While the route is fairly straightforward, it can pose challenges in poor weather or if unprepared. There are no amenities along the way, so pack essentials like sufficient water, snacks, and sunscreen. Plus, since cell service may be patchy, it’s wise to download the map beforehand, just in case.

The optimal way to hike the Drake Trail is to take a taxi to San Josecito, starting at the endpoint, and then hike back. This way, you’ll finish up in Agujitas de Drake, allowing you to head straight to your lodging for a well-earned rest.
