The Cine Kamari is considered one of the top outdoor movie theaters in Europe, and it is undoubtedly one of the most noteworthy activities to engage in on Santorini. It is situated in Kamari, which is around a 12-minute drive from Fira and approximately 20 to 25 minutes from Oia. All films are popular current films in English, shown with Greek subtitles. Doors open at 20:30 however you should arrive by 20:00 (unless itβs a particularly popular movie, or the final day of a movieβs run, or a Sunday β in which scenarios you should line up by 19:30). Even on a warm day, it can get chilly at night. Plan to bring a sweater or lightweight jacket, but staff will provide blankets if requested β

Cine Kamari: The Basics
- Cine Kamari is open from May through October.
- The schedule for movies at the Santorini Cinema is typically released around two months before.
- Tickets are β¬10 in cash only at the door and bar. The entire group needs to be present when purchasing tickets (as you`ll go straight into the theater). Advance online bookings are not accepted.
- Doors open at 8:30pm. Movies begin at 9:30pm. I generally suggest arriving by 8:00pm. If itβs a popular movie, the final day of a filmβs run, or Sunday, you should get in line by 7:30pm.
Cine Kamari: Getting There
Bus: Thereβs a bus stop directly across the road from the cinema. For June through September, there should always be a bus heading back to Fira after the movie gets out. For May and October check the bus schedule to ensure thereβs a late bus. To get to Oia, Imerovigli, and Firostefani will require changing buses in Fira.
Taxi: Getting a taxi late at night can be difficult. Be prepared for a long wait. Ordering and planning a taxi in advance (perhaps through your hotel) is advised. Or arrange a ride with Welcome Pickups Santorini.
Thereβs plenty of parking near the cinema if you have a rental vehicle. But then you canβt enjoy drinks from the bar, which is half the fun.
Cine Kamari: Food and Drinks
At the Cinema: Thereβs a bar and concession stand inside. They serve beer, wine, beverages, soda, nachos, hot dogs, popcorn, nuts, chocolate bars.
In the vicinity of the Cinema:” Metaxi Mas, considered one of the top rated restaurants in Santorini, is situated a brief drive from the outdoor motion picture theater. (But itβs not within walking distance.) Combining an evening meal and a film is about as picturesque an evening as I can envision β but youβll need an early seating at Metaxi Mas, so get reservations no less than a week in advance. The lodging facilities of Kamari are within walking distance of the venue. The lodging facilities of Fira are not accessible on foot
