Hotel Review
Remezzo Villas – One of the original family-operated hotels in Santorini, Remezzo offers traditional cave-style suites with breathtaking caldera views, a pool, four-course Greek breakfasts, and warm service.
Situated in a repurposed winery from the 1800s, Remezzo features eighteen uniquely designed rooms, suites, and villas intended to protect the initial architecture. Nearly all include gorgeous sun setting caldera perspectives; many rooms and suites incorporate kitchenettes, while a few showcase indoor or outdoor hot tubs or private, heated plunge pools. This family-run hotel moreover includes an unheated central pool to share. One of the major highlights is their breakfast spread, a four-course meal with diverse options every day, all with local ingredients and conventional recipes. The owners and staff extend themselves to offer personalized service, and to establish a local, authentic, welcoming feel..

Remezzo Villas – Location
This hotel offers a spectacular location in the heart of Imerovigli village, where all of the town`s excellent dining and attractions are within a short walk between 2 to 20 minutes. Imerovigli has the highest elevation in the caldera region, and the views from each room and throughout the hotel are unbeatable.
• How to Get There:
The hotel is located above the caldera in the center of Imerovigli village, not far from the main road connecting Fira and Oia, making it easy to reach by public transportation, taxi, or driving. It is approximately 8 kilometers from the Santorini Airport to Remezzo Villas, and 12 kilometers from the ferry port.
Transportation is consistently available with buses waiting at the ferry dock for each boat arrival and departing hourly from Santorini Airport. However, there are no direct buses linking the port or airport directly with Imerovigli; the buses from those locations go to Fira first, where passengers must board another bus to reach Imerovigli – the entire trip from the port or airport takes around an hour and costs approximately €5 total. Cash payments are accepted on the bus. The stop is located only 5 minutes away on foot from the hotel, and the walk from there involves mostly flat terrain easy to navigate with luggage.
Vehicles arranged for transport are also available from the port or airport, though there are only about 25 vehicles in total serving the whole island, so there can be a long wait; scheduling a ride through a private car service in advance avoids this (I use and recommend Welcome Pickups). Vehicles arranged for transport on Santorini are not calculated in advance, so be sure to agree on a price with the driver before departing. A vehicle arranged for transport from the airport to Remezzo Villas should be about €25 to €30, and a vehicle arranged for transport from the ferry port around €30. Booking through a private car service will cost only a bit more – about $45 (or €37), but is worth it to avoid the wait and for the convenience of paying ahead.
Just off the main strip is Osu Kannon, one of the city`s most significant Buddhist temples (moved here in 1612 and rebuilt in the 1970s). Also here is Bansho-ji temple, constructed by Oda Nobuhide (the father of famous warlord Oda Nobunaga). Bansho-ji temple appears like a fancy store from outside with a huge LED light display and two `Karakuri` mechanical dolls portraying historic scenes from the life of Nobunaga. At Osu Kannon, there`s an antique market held on the 18th and 28th of each month. Additionally south lies Kanayama, anchored by Kanayama Station, a central transportation hub, and several good hotels.

Map of Remezzo Villas
Remezzo Villas – The Basics
- Ages: This is an adult-only hotel, and guests must be at least 13 years old to stay here. Guests tend to be couples between 25 and 65 celebrating a romantic occasion (wedding, honeymoon, or anniversary), or birthday.
- Beach: The nearest coastline is Exo Gialos, a dim sand shoreline with striking, wind-fashioned precipices at its southern finish. The best shoreline bar and eatery there is East Breeze, just a couple measures from the precipices. The northern end has a small harbor and another extraordinary shoreline bar and eatery called Yalos. From the lodging, it’s a brief 5 km drive to the northern end or 7 km to the southern end, where the precipices are.
- Scenic Vistas: Offering breathtaking sunsets seen from most rooms and throughout the hotel overlooking the caldera. Only 1 studio presents views of the pool and hotel grounds instead of the natural scenery.
- Kitchen: Most room types feature small kitchen areas: Studios, Superior Studios, Sea View Studios, Honeymoon Suites, Superior Suites, Senior Suites, and the Master Suite.
- Private Pools/Hot Tubs: Some room categories offer exclusive access to either private hot tubs or pools. The Pool Suite features an outdoor, heated private pool area; the Honeymoon Double provides an outdoor hot tub; the Senior Suite includes an indoor two-person hot tub; and the Master Suite has an indoor hot tub.
- Parking: Free street parking is available near the hotel, close to the Imerovigli Basketball Court, and nearby the Sunbird Rent-A-Car. Imerovigli has some of the hardest parking in Santorini to locate; be patient and a spot will eventually be found.
- Extras: Amazing breakfast with luxury accommodations, a welcome drink (usually wine or a cocktail), maid service twice daily, turndown service each night.
- When making reservations: The hotel usually operates from April to November. Reserve at least 4 months in advance (6 months is preferred) for stays during the high season from June through September, and about 2 months in advance for the low and shoulder seasons.

Remezzo Villas – Rooms
- Room Types: Studio • Superior Studio • Sea View Studio • Superior Double • Pool Suite • Honeymoon Double • Honeymoon Suite • Superior Suite • Junior Suite • Junior Suite with Outdoor Hot Tub • Senior Suite • Master Suite • 2-Bedroom Villa
- Smoking Rooms: The hotel does not permit smoking in any of their room categories. It is allowed on the private outdoor terraces, and in the outdoor common areas.
- Premier Accommodation: Every room has its own unique design, though standout options for couples include the Pool Suite, Honeymoon Double, and Honeymoon Suite. The Pool Suite spans a generous 50 square meters and is the only room type with a private heated swimming pool. It also has an oversized king bed. The Honeymoon Double provides 32 square meters of space along with a queen bed and an outdoor hot tub. As the largest suite on site, surpassing the size of even the villa, the Honeymoon Suite covers 90 square meters, including a massive 25 square meter bathroom with a stone bathtub deep enough for soaking. It too has a king bed with kitchenette and private balcony.
- For Families: This adults-only hotel does not provide amenities or facilities for children under 13 years old. Older families with children should consider their 3-Bedroom Master Suite, accommodating up to 6 people, or the 2-Bedroom Villa, suitable for 4 guests. The Master Suite measures 60 square meters with a queen bed in the main bedroom and private bathroom, a king bed in the loft bedroom, and two single beds in the third room. It features a jacuzzi tub in the main bathroom, an extra half bathroom, a small kitchen, and a shared outdoor area. The 2-Bedroom Villa occupies 65 square meters with queen beds in both bedrooms, separate living quarters, a shower bathroom, and a spacious private deck.
Remezzo Villas – Local Transport
- Getting around on foot: The hotel is located in Imerovigli village, above the caldera and the Oia-Fira hiking trail, with the village’s best restaurants, shops, and attractions just a short distance away. Easy access to all dining and attractions in Imerovigli as well as the nightlife and shopping in Fira, just a 30-minute walk south.
- Public transportation: The nearest bus stop is in Imerovigli village, a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Buses here serve all of the major villages and beaches on the island, often requiring a transfer in Fira. Tickets can be purchased on board, and vary in price from €1.80 to €2.50 per traveler during the day, contingent on the route. Night buses (12:30 a.m. to 5:00 a.m.) run less regularly and cost somewhat more, from €2.30 to €3.10. Buses can become very crowded, particularly during peak season, so much so that they frequently fill to capacity, and are unable to take on additional riders. There are only 23 public buses providing transport throughout the island.
- Taxis: The closest taxi stand lies all the way down in Fira at Stathmos Taxi, making it impractical to walk or bus to. Additionally, there is often a wait here as only 25 taxis serve the entire island (hosting guests from approximately 1,000 hotels, villas, and Airbnbs). Booking ahead avoids the wait, having one meet you directly at the hotel. A small additional charge applies for advance reservations and for carrying luggage, usually just a couple Euros. The average fare from Imerovigli to Fira is roughly €15, while from Imerovigli to the airport or port is around €25 to €30.
- Motorcycles and scooters: Scooters are mainly how locals get around, but if you`re unfamiliar with the layout, it can be very dangerous. The roads here zigzag up and down hills with narrow lanes and no guardrails or streetlights in most areas. A lot of dirt roads and potholes too.
- ATVs/Quads: ATVs are an enjoyable and popular method of transportation with visitors, but for the locals required to drive behind them, they maneuver too gradually and hold up traffic in an area where moving around is already challenging. For individuals who don’t routinely ride quads (i.e. most people), they can be risky at high speeds and on turns. Crashed your ATV is a guaranteed way to ruin your vacation.
