What hotels have the best sunset views in Santorini?
Accommodations in Imerovigli have the most spectacular sunsets of any village in Santorini. Numerous lodgings in Oia may not offer sunset perspectives. (The hotels which guarantee unblocked sunset views are detailed below.) Hotels in Oia generally afford either a view of the caldera or sunsets (this is a simplification as it also is dependent on the time of year but largely it’s accurate). Sunset perspectives from Accommodations in Fira and Lodgings in Firostefani at times are partly blocked by the small island of Thirassia or parts of Santorini itself. Imerovigli generally has neither of these problems. Lodgings are perched elevated on the cliff with magnificent vistas of both the sunset and the caldera. Another plus is that Imerovigli doesn’t have the crowds that congregate in Oia as the sun descends.
Beyond the top three cliff towns, many lodgings near the quiet village of Megalochori and in the island’s southern peninsula around Akrotiri are perched along the cliff edge and have good sunset perspectives over the caldera – and generally cost less than comparable lodgings in Oia, Fira, and Imerovigli. Lodgings in the village of Pyrgos regularly have sunset perspectives across the island countryside. None of the Santorini beaches have sunset perspectives, but the east-facing lodgings have beautiful sunrises).
