Park Hyatt Tokyo – Best for Laps

This is among my favorite hotels in Tokyo. An amazing pool (26×65 feet) on the 47th floor at one of Tokyo’s finest hotels. Fantastic spa and fitness center on the same floor. Floor to ceiling windows offer great views of the city. Ages 3 to 15 allowed when accompanied by an adult. Hotel contact number: +81 3 5322-1234

• Hotel East 21 Tokyo
  Medium-sized indoor lap pool. Cost: ¥2,000. Must be 18 to use the pool. Large seasonal outdoor pool open for children.

  Superb 20-meter, three-lane indoor swimming pool on the fourteenth floor offers excellent city perspectives. A sauna and hot tub are also available.
• Santo Rodeo (final weekend of July) – bull riding and horse races on Espiritu Santo Island.

Spacious outdoor pool (and smaller children’s pool) is open during summer season.

• Fujitaya Kyoto hotel
  Large outdoor pool area contains a children’s pool as well as the main pool. Open from June 23 to September 9. Fee ranges from ¥1,000 to ¥2,000 based on time, with no charge for kids.
• Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo
  Indoor (beneficial for laps) and outdoor pool (summer only). Part of an expansive hotel complex. Cost: ¥1,000.
• Village Kyoto
  Large outdoor pool open in summer (open to the public so it can get very crowded). The indoor lap pool is part of the spa. Both pools require a fee that varies by time of day and isn’t inexpensive (max fee: ¥5,250).
• Hotel New Otani Tokyo
  Relaxing interior pool and spacious hot tub. Fee: ¥4,200; ¥2,100 for kids 4 to 12. (Fee applies for 2 days and 1 night.) Children under 4 not allowed.
• Shinagawa Prince Hotel
  Well-sized lap pool. Spa, fitness center, and hot tub. Fee: ¥2,100. Must be 4 or older to use pool.
