The Best Hotels in Hoi An

Hoi An Hotels โ€“ Tips and Advice

  • The main attraction in Hoi An is within the Old Town, however owing to modern construction constraints and confined space, there are extremely few hotels inside the Old Town itself. Therefore, the outer edges of the Old Town are packed with moderate boutique-style hotels, generally to the south and west and within walking distance.
  • Many of the boutique hotels just outside Old Town boast โ€œriver viewsโ€ of the sluggish and narrow offshoot of the Thu Bon River along Old Townโ€™s southern edge. Quieter and less expensive hotels are being built along the main stretch of Thu Bon River, which is far more impressive and still only a 10-minute walk from the Old Town.
  • Some travelers stay at beaches within 5 to 7km of the Old Town โ€“ easily accessible by taxi, or even bicycle with recent improvements to the roads. These beaches include Cua Dia (the most developed, with an inconsistent beach), An Bang (a little further from Hoi An), and Hidden Beach (quieter, but not as accessible as the others).
  • Itโ€™s also a popular day trip destination from Da Nang, a city with better facilities and a magnificent beach.
  • There are ticketed entrance gates at the main road into the Old Town from the west, and at the bridges from the south, where visitors are charged fairly high fees to enter. The money assists preserving the town and temples. You can pay once (around $7), and gain admission to various Old Town historic sites for the duration of your stay. Enforcement occurs sporadically, however, and many people pass through without paying at all.
  • The airport and train station nearest to Hoi An are located in Danang approximately 30 kilometers away. Visitors can easily reach the town by tourist shuttle bus; travel agencies around the Old Town sell tickets. Otherwise, taking a taxi is an option.
  • Hoi An is well-connected to Hue and elsewhere by comfortable tourist buses and minivans.
  • Minimarts stock many items in Hoi An, but for shopping malls head to Danang. Handicrafts are especially common around the Old Town but drive a hard bargain.

The 15 Best Hotels in Hoi An

1. Anantara Hoi An Resort

a large white house sitting in front of a treeHotel phone: +84 235 391 4555
Luxurious elegance and convenient Old Town location. This refined hotel from the 1920s is well-situated in the quieter eastern portion of Old Town, surrounded by a selection of higher-end shops and riverside cafes compared to where larger tourist groups congregate further west. Split-level rooms and suites in the two- and three-level structures contain fairly comparable interiors, differing primarily based on views of the river, gardens, or pool. Deluxe River View Rooms feature a magnificent sofa on the porch, elegant Colonial-style decor, sunken lounge area, and massive bathroom with spa amenities. Some suites provide even more space and splendor, including superb river views (soon obstructed by a new island hotel). Additional attractions involve the lengthy tiled outdoor terraces, impeccably landscaped gardens, charming riverside courtyard pool, and open-air library/children`s activity zone.

Notes on Anantara

  • Only 10 yeard old, this 1920s style hotel located along the river has a charming appearance with peach colored walls, sturdy railings, and elongated tiled terraces facing the water and a nearby island resort under construction. The property maintains immaculate tropical gardens containing banyan trees.
  • The price represents an incredible bargain compared to similar accommodations in other popular Asian destinations.
  • Situated near the far more peaceful and nicer section of the Old Town, actually virtually in it, which makes it special for a large resort; walkable to the busy marketplace and the higher quality cafes and shops of eastern Old Town.
  • Free bicycle rental for Old Town and riverside path.
  • Beautiful outdoor library area covered from the elements and kids activities space.
  • Cooking classes and trice-daily boat trips are offered.
  • A lovely courtyard pool located beside the river.
  • The 6 room and suite types vary in dimensions, setting, and scenic qualities (gardens and/or river views). All accommodations are split-level and include daybed porches.
  • Premium River View Rooms โ€“ Elegant but with a small balcony large enough for two small facing couches; stylish wooden venetian blinds doors opening to a sunken lounge area containing a corner sofa and desk; a rise of 3 steps to the bedroom; a spacious tiled bathroom incorporating a built-in spa bath; your private aquarium too.
  • The largest suite on the second floor, the Anantara Riverview, has unbeatable views of the waterway from a sizable personal terrace and extensively furnished balcony; interior spaces encompass two lounging zones separated by stairs, and the bedroom with its king-sized four-poster bed has a long desk, walk-in closet, and spa-like ensuite.
  • Offering enjoyable activities like lantern-making, dancing, and yoga, this accommodation is a great choice for families with kids. An on-site kids pool adjoins the main pool area, and many rooms have connecting doors. Abundant space and a delightful riverside location are additional perks.
  • Bottom Line: The premier hotel in Hoi An in the best section of town centrally located; riverfront setting is superb; elegance, grace, ideal for families; peaceful.

2. Green Heaven Hoi An Resort & Spa

a hotel room with a pool and a balconyHotel phone: +84 235 396 2969

Quaint, tasteful and convenient. Green Heaven draws design inspiration from the nearby Old Town located some 200 meters across the river, and traditional Vietnamese elegance is found throughout with decorative fish ponds on patios, dangling lanterns along open corridors adorned with lovely murals. Standard rooms are lovely though somewhat compact with decor inspired by the namesake green textiles. Abundant windows allow ample light while balconies overlook dense thickets of ferns. The more expansive Deluxe Rooms feature a gorgeous old-fashioned bathroom but may face the main thoroughfare. The inviting courtyard pool surrounded by potted palms includes a splash area for younger guests. Green Heaven is positioned on a comparably busy intersection facing one of the main bridges into the Old Town, so rooms close to the front potentially experience noise.

Notes on Green Heaven

  • Elegant emerald theme present throughout; lobby, poolside, rooms.
  • Quaint, spanning 3 levels, fitting in perfectly with the aesthetic of the Old Town; it blends into its surroundings so well as to be easy to overlook.
  • Pleasant murals and photos line the open-air corridors depicting old Hoi An alongside fish ponds and courtyards decorated with lanterns and tiled staircases.
  • Situated on a corner in a prime location across the river from the Old Town (rooms alongside the road may be noisy), 50 meters from the river.
  • The outdoor swimming pool is square-shaped and welcoming, surrounded by potted ferns and palms. They have even managed to include a gym alongside it.
  • Hotel rate incorporates a short massage; cooking classes available.
  • Superior (standard) Rooms โ€“ Very pleasant, compact size; green color scheme; small but practical bathroom; balcony overlooks foliage and ferns; windows wherever feasible to add brightness and airiness.
  • Luxurious Rooms โ€“ Could face the loud street, and while traffic isnโ€™t severe, thereโ€™s enough to impact ambiance and slumber; larger than the standard room; overhead fan; green motif continues yet strangely, a garish red sofa; balcony overlooks main street; beautifully vintage bathroom.
  • Other rooms include Junior Doubles with a partitioned but still open lounge area (although TV faces the bed); and the Grand Suite fitting an extra bed for families with a marble bathroom, private steam bath and separate lounge.
  • For families? Most rooms are too small for an extra bed, but adjoining rooms and family suites are available; decent pool with partitioned kids area; great location
  • Bottom Line: Lovely atmosphere and a prime location very near Old Town. Excellent pool area, quaint and elegant; good value overall.

3. Hoi An Beach Resort

a large body of water with palm treesHotel phone: +84 235 392 7011
Family-friendly, with beach and river access. Nestled between the beach road and the river in Cua Dai, six kilometers away from Old Town Hanoi. Guests here are housed classy two-level buildings, with two rooms up and another two on the ground level, each separated by stairs. Newer Superior Rooms are in less appealing blocks facing the conference hall, so go for one of the Deluxe Rooms, which feature lovely floorboards and large balconies. While a few rooms do face the impressive river, most overlook gardens. Thereโ€™s no direct river frontage, but great river views โ€“ also two pools and a delightful breakfast cafรฉ. Litter and breakwaters make the public beach across the road fairly uninviting, but the hotelโ€™s kidsโ€™ club, games room, and activities make it ideal for families. Improved roads make Old Town easy enough to reach by bicycle.

Notes on Hoi An Beach Resort

  • Faces a fairly unkempt beach; litter, waves, and breakwaters rendering it uninviting.
  • Direct river frontage, albeit across a road.
  • Squeezed between the beachside road and De Vong River, with the best of both worlds: 50m to sand and magnificent views across the vast river (much better than the Hoi An creek).
  • Guest rooms are housed in stylish two-level square blocks in two configurations – two upstairs and two downstairs separated by interior stairs lessening noise from neighbors, back to back with another identical configuration. Rooms near or facing the main road may be noisy. Many have river views, but most have garden views; those in Superior rooms face the conference hall lacking noteworthy views.
  • Centrally situated where the river, road from Hoi An, and beach intersect; 6km from the Old Town in Hanoi.
  • There are a few cafes and tourist shops within walking distance, along the road from Hoi An.
  • Splendid cafe and breakfast area above and alongside the river.
  • Lounging area; billiards room; beach volleyball; Beach Club; cooking and language classes; kayak rental; tai chi.
  • 2 pools: the main one faces the river, and the other kidney-shaped pool has a swim-up bar.
  • Deluxe Garden View Rooms โ€“ Lovely, with dark wood flooring, Oriental-themed cupboards, small sofa, and string of Hoi An photos; full-sized tub; good-sized balcony with 2 seats; overhead fan.
  • Superior Rooms โ€“ These are in newer sections and larger, but less inviting โ€“ mainly because they all face the conference hall and lack views.
  • Good for families with young children as there is an indoor (unsupervised) kids club for toddlers, a nearby beach (albeit somewhat lacking but at least present), space, and proximity to Hanoi.
  • Bottom Line: Uneven beach access, few nearby cafes/shops, though great river/road/beach location; well-planned to minimize noise from other guests. Carefully select rooms for views; best are upper floor river views.

4. Mulberry Collection Silk Marina

a hotel room with two beds and two lampsHotel phone: +84 235 393 8888
This spacious, peaceful resort along the scenic Thu Bon River is just a short walk from historic Hoi An. Guest rooms in attractive buildings overlook the gardens and fantastic pool; higher floors allow river views. Deluxe Rooms provide a swish, spacious design with an Oriental-style screen dividing the bathroom and bedroom. The Premium option features a more modern layout across considerably more space, and the best river perspectives. All villas face the waterway and include a separate living room, with larger residences also boasting a Jacuzzi.

Notes on the Mulberry Collection Silk Marina assortment

  • The preferable of both worlds as it faces the improved river, and is only a 10-minute walk from the Old Town.
  • Unusually large grounds for a compact city.
  • Rooms are arranged in 4-level C-shaped blocks, with those on both sides overlooking the pool and gardens, while solely the upper two floors of the central section afford any river views.
  • The entire property has a quite stylish aesthetic, with pale yellow walls and dark wooden frames and railings.
  • Plenty of shops and cafes in the immediate neighborhood.
  • Huge pool, with kidsโ€™ section.
  • Deluxe River View Rooms โ€“ Spacious and very elegant; discreet TV; local photos adorning walls; low lamps in oriental style, movable screen between bathroom and bedroom; more face the pool, which can get loud, than the river.
  • Premium River View Rooms โ€“ Significantly larger; open-plan with contemporary furnishings; daybeds on the balcony; best possible river views.
  • 12 villas all face the river, most of which offer space for an additional bed or two; all include separate living and outdoor areas with rainfall showers โ€“ the largest includes a private outdoor hot tub.
  • Family-friendly, with free bicycle rental, spacious grounds, a huge pool, and fantastic location. Some rooms have connecting doors.
  • Centrally located along the riverfront, this hotel is within a 5-10 minute walk of Old Town and features spacious grounds and lovely guest rooms.

5. Silkotel Hoi An

a large pool of water in front of a buildingHotel phone: +84 235 396 3399
Quaintly decorated on the edge of town. With a Vietnamese elegance evoking the Old Town, expect ochre hues, terra cotta tiles, and potted flora. Rooms in the four-level complex overlook the busy street below, or face the pool and have a balcony within proximity of neighborsโ€™. Adjacent “villas” next door are near enough that most windows and balconies look directly into another. The stylish villas feature a lounge area partitioned from the smallish sleeping quarters, but lack natural light. The hotelโ€™s two pools are small but receive good sunlight. At the beginning of a major arterial road, the immediate surroundings are unattractive, although a temple and traditional marketplace are nearby. The Old Town is less than a 10 minute walk on foot.

Notes on Silkotel Hoi An

  • One of several in a chain across Hoi An.
  • Two wings: hotel rooms in a four level block and โ€œvillasโ€ in a two-level block alongside.
  • Regular design, reminiscent of Old Town: pale yellow walls and terra cotta roofing; winding staircase, elegant photos and large wall art in the welcoming lobby; potted plants.
  • Situated at the beginning of a somewhat scruffy and busy arterial town road; a 5 minute walk to the edge of the Old Town. There are no cafes or shops for westerners along the road, itโ€™s the real Hoi An, with temples and a market.
  • There is one sunny communal pool landscaped with palm trees for the villas and another stylish yet smaller pool for the hotel rooms.
  • Free bicycle hire; shuttle bus to beach.
  • Garden View Villas โ€“ Not isolated (as a villa should be) and packed in a tight assemblage, with nearly all windows and balconies oriented inwardly or confronting walls; an inordinate number of rooms condensed within a confined expanse; stylish and somewhat secluded lounge vicinity (though a TV in the bedroom), marginally partitioned from the compact bedroom. Lovely tiles; cushioned bed(s); Vietnamese prints; many windows yet remain dim (windows are small and receive little sunlight); balcony faces another balcony or wall; full-sized tub.
  • Hotel Rooms – These are located in a 4 level block with views either overlooking the pool or the main street; those facing the pool have small balconies nearly abutting another, while those facing the street have larger private balconies but are noisier.
  • An acceptable option for families, as larger rooms provide space for an extra bed, but they may find better elsewhere.
  • Bottom Line: Not a bad choice, closest (and walkable) to the Old Town along the busy street; villas are dim, small and too tightly crammed; hotel rooms better. Consider staying somewhere with more space and further out, or same limited space and closer to the Old Town.

6. La Residencia โ€“ Little Boutique Hotel & Spa

a large staircase leading up to a balconyHotel phone: +84 235 392 9222
Graceful, convenient, and newly constructed but pleasantly retro. With its neoclassical architecture, this setting channels more of Spain than the Old Town, though hallways appropriately feature photos of ancient Hoi An. Junior Suites showcase Vietnamese art, a corner work area, mosaic tiles, antique phone and satisfactory city perspectives โ€“ through double-paned windows that muffle traffic and construction noise. Residencia Suites offer glimpses of the river, and a 1920s-style desk, couch and four-poster bed. Due to limited space constraints, the swimming pool is situated in the basement (with all the atmosphere of a parking garage). Much more appealing are the corner breakfast cafe and colonial-style lobby lounge. Located a short block from the river, there are some good cafes in the adjacent backstreets, with many facilities available in Old Town, 300 meters away.

Notes on La Residencia

  • Part of a small local chain of upmarket boutique hotels around Hoi An.
  • Designed in a neoclassical style, reminiscent of Spain, perhaps; 7 levels; beige-grey and mustard hues blend nicely with the common colors of the Old Town.
  • Corridors are lined with local art and old photos of Hoi An.
  • Located a half block from the river; doesnโ€™t face the river around 100m away; faces a back street with good cafes and shops, with riverside cafes a few minutes walk away. (Hoi An river views are arguably overrated anyway.)
  • Underground gym and pool area, with the ambiance of a parking garage; pool is mostly covered, and heated since it receives no direct sunlight at all, without foliage, quite unwelcoming but itโ€™s what they could manage in a confined space.
  • Stunning corner cafe, also used for breakfast; Colonial-style lobby lounge.
  • Free shuttle bus to the beach.
  • Each of the rooms have double-glazed windows installed to reduce noise from the street (and from nearby construction work); many rooms also contain marble bathrooms.
  • Junior Suites โ€“ Charming decor highlighted by sunny yellow colors, standalone desk situated in a corner, likeable artwork depicting Vietnam and Hoi An. Flooring composed of mosaic tiles, antique phone, tolerable views of the low-level terra cotta-roofed buildings below, ample storage space for luggage. Outdated bathroom includes a small window.
  • Lodging units โ€“ Separate storage areas of considerable size; bedrooms including Oriental artworks, mosaic tiles, 4 poster beds. 1920s-style desks and sofas; modern art, overhead fans. Facing the side, with some perspectives of the river from spacious balconies; street views are not unattractive but can generate noise; tub.
  • Families would appreciate the pool (as long as they do not expect a sunny tropical oasis) and the convenient location.
  • Bottom Line: Sophistication in abundance; pool is somewhat disappointing (but who truly needs it in Hoi An?); no river perspectives, yet meters to the river and a brief walk to Old Town.

7. La Siesta Hoi An Resort & Spa

a patio area with chairs, tables, and a fountainHotel phone: +84 235 391 5915
Faultless service, resort atmosphere, family-friendly, but isolated. La Siesta features an assortment of rooms, suites and villas in a charming setting. Stylish Deluxe Rooms contain lovely rugs and prints, a quaint wooden entrance to the marble bathroom and balcony with unique perspectives of rice-fields (which sadly may be built upon). Most villas offer a massive private terrace with Jacuzzi, while those on the ground level boast a private sauna and garden. Suites showcase a huge bathroom and an enclosed double-glazed balcony that shields traffic and construction noise. Two tropical-style pools are particularly inviting and popular with families, who also enjoy the games room and varied activities provided. Positioned on the edge of Hoi An city, it feels remote, with no shops or cafรฉs nearby, but the Old Town is less than 10 minutes by taxi.

Notes on La Siesta

  • Prides itself on providing flawless service, which it truly does very well.
  • Part of a chain, and formerly known as Essence Hoi An.
  • Divided into 3 sections, with plans to redevelop the adjacent rice fields (which offer views from many rooms) into bungalows.
  • Somewhat isolated on the city`s edge, with few nearby cafes and shops; but only a 5 minute taxi ride from Old Town.
  • La Siesta offers cooking classes and has 2 pools (both with adjacent poolside cafes and children`s splash areas, swinging chairs, palms, tropical feel), also a snooker table.
  • `

  • The Deluxe Rooms are elegantly furnished in a light yellow color with king-sized beds, lovely artwork, wood-framed televisions, and Venetian blinds separating the bedroom and bathroom. Balconies feature unique views of rice paddies, unfortunately slated for development by the owners. The contemporary marble bathroom.
  • `

  • Suites โ€“ Ideal for honeymooners; stylish furnishings, DVD player and speakers, overhead fan laptop provided; free mini-bar. Bathrooms are gigantic, with tiled bathtub/Jacuzzi (even a table and chair in bathroom), massive showerhead, separate area with twin sinks and toilet cubicle. Pleasant double-glazed indoor balcony to shield from construction and traffic sounds.
  • Villas โ€“ Which are simply larger suites in the 2nd wing; all overlook the lovely Infinity pool. Some have immense terraces with small private Jacuzzi; top floor villas are split-level, with two bedrooms on alternating levels; mosaic tiles, cutting-edge music system. There is o partition between bedroom and bathroom areas in these, with half-sized footed tubs visible from the bed; some have private sauna and gardens with wooden tubs
  • Perfect for families who donโ€™t want to be near the Old Town center, with some villas containing split-level rooms for a family of 4; some standard rooms connecting. Wonderful pools, snooker, family activities; baby-sitting can be arranged.
  • Wonderfully elegant hotel with impeccable service that is suitable for families. While somewhat isolated, it is only a quick taxi ride away from Old Town; the scenic rice paddy views will unfortunately be impacted as development continues.

8. Little Hoi An Boutique Hotel & Spa

a building that has a bunch of flowers in front of itHotel phone: +84 235 386 9999
Located barely 50 meters from a bridge into the Old Town, this quintessential boutique hotel resembles a 100-year-old French mansion through elegant yet compact design. Skillfully utilizing limited space, rooms exhibit traditional furnishings like lovely prints of Hoi An and antique-style telephones. Those near the lobby and street may encounter noise. Though receiving limited sunlight, the sizeable pool sits beside a delightful courtyard cafรฉ. Situated along an occasionally vehicle-used quiet street facing the river, most lower floor river views are obstructed by trees and patio umbrellas while the veranda/balcony in most rooms allows for table and chair placement

Notes on Little Hoi An Boutique

  • Very quaint, with 30 rooms spread across 3 levels; exemplifying a boutique hotel; designed resembling an elegant 100-year-old French colonial home.
  • Attractive design has rooms surrounding a central interior courtyard, some would be reasonably loud if facing the street or near the lobby.
  • Conveniently situated, along a tranquil street, only 50m from the bridge into the Old Town. There are numerous shops and riverside cafes nearby.
  • Unlike many tiny hotels, thereโ€™s a swimming pool on a lower level, adjacent to the elegant courtyard cafe; the pool doesnโ€™t receive much sunlight but is pleasant and surprisingly large for such a small number of guests.
  • Riverview Suites โ€“ lovely prints of Hoi An; dim wooden desk and chairs; antique phone. River view on lower floors area blocked by courtyard umbrellas; cars, trees and street; only 3rd floor has any real river views; balconies are large enough for a table and 2 chairs.
  • Despite the decent pool and prime position, this hotel is too small to be comfortable for most families.
  • Bottom Line: Elegant and refined boutique-style lodge on a quiet road, close to Old Town and encompassed by riverside cafes.

9. Little Hoi An Central Boutique Hotel & Spa

a swimming pool with umbrellas on top of itHotel phone: +84 235 395 9999
A comfortably elegant family option along the quaint streets of Hoi An, though not centrally located. Constructed in 2016, it blends ancient Vietnamese culture through displays of local art with modern conveniences. All rooms include a balcony facing the tranquil garden courtyard below, active swimming pool, bustling road, or tranquil back alleys. Deluxe Rooms provide ample space while Grand Deluxe versions, with their generous size, appear somewhat sparsely decorated. Signature Suites are worth splurging on, some including bunk beds ideal for families. Additional activities comprise cooking lessons, private beach access, and a pleasant pool often crowded. Despite its name, it lies a 15-minute walk from the Old Town through suburban streets, the terracotta tiles and ochre walls seem out of place against the busy road.

Notes on Little Hoi An Central

  • Pleasant pale yellowish hue akin to Old Town, but seems out of place alongside a busy suburban road.
  • An elegant exterior leads to a lobby full of photos and artwork of Hoi An; 5 levels over 2 wings, all combining modern Vietnamese and old-fashioned Hoi An style (eg. swinging lanterns and elegant dark wooden furnishings).
  • Opened in 2016, but already very popular.
  • Situated about a quarter-hour walk from Old Town yet along a marginally shabby and bustling road lacking Western cafes or shops, with temples and markets directly accessible from the hotel.
  • Complimentary shuttle bus to private beach; free bicycle rental; cooking classes are offered.
  • Swimming pool is very pleasant, but noisy for rooms facing it.
  • All lodgings include balconies overlooking the courtyard garden pool, main street, or more tranquil town scenery.
  • Deluxe Rooms โ€“ A decent size; with city or pool perspectives; prints on walls of Hoi An; antique phone; full-sized tub in bathroom that has a window and scenery; comfortable sofa; balcony with two separate sliding doors to block out traffic noise.
  • Grand Deluxe โ€“ Lovely tile work and bright tasteful art above the bed; separate desk and sofa, very roomy; antique phone, pendant lanterns; wide-ish furnished balcony with wicker chairs and small table; views to the back, city views rather than road views.
  • Signature Suite โ€“ Stunning, with a gorgeous corner sitting area that includes an attached desk; full-sized bathtub; wide balcony and pool views.
  • Ideal for families with young children as many rooms have connecting doors and bunk beds, as well as a colorful (unsupervised) kids club for toddlers and a kids splash area attached to the main pool. Baby-sitting services are also available.
  • One of Hoi Anโ€™s better family choices; a bit isolated but not too distant from Old Town; pleasing integration of Old Hoi And and contemporary Vietnamese style.

10. River Suites Hoi An

a living room filled with furniture and a patioHotel phone: +84 235 392 4999
Friendly and tranquil, with river perspectives. A fairly plain exterior gives way to a colorful and modern lobby and 21 rooms and fully-furnished apartments spread over five levels. All front-facing and some side-looking rooms offer fine views of the waterway below. Spacious Deluxe Rooms feature freestanding bathtubs, artwork of local scenes, and TVs nestled into stylish backboards. Suites provide more space and elegance, but may face another hotel to the rear. The inviting pool located alongside the breakfast area, offering minimal sunshine and privacy, but a great spot for lounging. Situated on a peaceful street facing a bridge leading into Old Town, only 300 meters away.

Notes on River Suites

  • Doesnโ€™t look much from the outside, but the lobby has a stylish modern decor that seamlessly blends with the Old Town ambiance, with mosaic tiles and colorful lanterns.
  • 21 rooms spread across 5 levels, including a few apartment units on the top floor. River views from the lower two floors are partly obscured by foliage.
  • Faces the river instead of Old Town, so there are no views of Old Town, set almost on the corner of a quiet riverside street overlooking a bridge leading into Old Town.
  • Some river perspectives from side-facing rooms also, though some wide windows look straight into the alluring pool of the neighboring resort.
  • Only the river-facing rooms have balconies
  • Surprisingly, there`s a pool adjoining the breakfast area, so privacy and sunshine are limited as a neighboring hotel overlooks it. Loungers near the shallow end appeal.
  • Luxurious Rooms โ€“ Stand-alone tub with common viewing window between bathroom and bedroom; spacious accommodation, regional imagery displayed on walls; Television nestled attractively; space for 2 chairs.
  • Suite โ€“ significantly nicer and more roomy, lavender-themed, 2 chairs, sizable tasteful print; windows not full length.
  • Ideal for singles or couples, but too compact for families.
  • Bottom Line: Compact, stylishly designed, and personable, in a convenient location; tranquil street, brief stroll to Old Town.

11. Ann Retreat Resort & Spa

a large building with tables and chairs in front of itHotel phone: +84 235 392 4924
Guaranteed views of the river; tranquil rural atmosphere yet still convenient access. Nestled between two rivers with entrances from roads adjacent to both waterways in a quiet section of Hoi An, this hotel has its own organic mini-farm providing a genuine countryside vibe โ€“ even though the Old Town is less than a 10-minute stroll away. It is one of the tallest buildings in the city, so each room offers perspectives of one river and one pool from a sizeable balcony. Deluxe Rooms feature exquisite Oriental art and a delightful bathroom. Spacious suites incorporate a freestanding bathtub, a desk with perspectives, and a petite lounge area on a mezzanine level. There are two expansive pools, one facing each river. With no shortage of riverside cafes nearby, it is set back from both roads, which see minimal traffic in any case.

Notes on Ann Retreat Resort & Spa

  • Located on the outskirts of town, conveying a rural atmosphere in a favorable way. Situated back from the Hoia river near Hoi An, but the primary entrance remarkably faces the river to the rear, which is considerably larger and more impressive โ€“ the river in Hoi An is green, stagnant, and full of weeds.
  • 7 level blocks, one of the tallest in the city fringes, square but still stylish.
  • This hotel guarantees river perspectives from every room, and impressively every room has a balcony.
  • Just a 5 minute walk from the old town`s edge, with numerous riverfront cafes nearby; situated along a virtually traffic-free street alongside an organic vegetable garden; remarkably tranquil yet not isolated.
  • There are 2 very large ponds; each alongside one river; one is particularly for families. Views, particularly of the big river, are excellent.
  • Luxurious Rooms โ€“ Beautiful Oriental artwork throughout; all include balconies with superb perspectives; unobtrusive Television in dark wooden casing; overhead fan; lovely bathroom; good-sized balcony; no sights of Old Town; extensive desk.
  • Duplex Suite – Independent tub; exceptionally roomy; desk positioned behind headboard; regional art depicting nearby scenery; lofty ceiling; mezzanine accessed by short stairwell houses compact lounge including low sofa and television. Second television faces bed.
  • Families will appreciate rooms with connecting doors; a family pool designed for relaxation away from crowds and noise rather than just a shallow section; and ample space for an extra single bed.
  • Bottom Line: Lovely and hospitable property, guaranteed river views from rooms, quiet atmosphere yet near the city center; within walking distance of Old Town; better amenities than external appearance suggests.

12. Hotel Royal Hoi An โ€“ MGallery

a large building with a view of the waterHotel phone: +84 235 395 0777
A riverside, elegant yet peaceful European-style hotel appears incongruous in ancient Hoi An, but its riverside placement is perfect. All balconies at the front are angled to guarantee maximum river perspectives. Standard quarters are undersized; better choices are the Royal Deluxe, which feature walk-through luggage areas, dark wood flooring, elegant desk and curved sofa facing the balcony โ€“ even the bathtub has fine perspectives of the river below. Suites are even more opulent. The inner courtyard pool highlights Mediterranean tile function and lounge chairs that appear to float in the shallow end โ€“ itโ€™s most likely the most delightful anywhere in Hoi An or even nearby Danang. Thereโ€™s also a rooftop pool. With an edge-of-the-urban feel, the Royal Hoi An is squeezed between two tranquil streets just a three-minute walk from the Historical Town.

Notes on Royal Hoi An

  • Bright yellow seven-level structure, constructed in the 1920s reminiscent of colonial architectural styles, lined with railed balconies.
  • Operated by Sofitel M Gallery, the hotel offers luxurious and elegant accommodations; probably the best upscale option within walking distance of the Old Town. Access from two streets, but mostly Nguyen Du street.
  • โ‚ฌโ€บ All chambers that face outward to get vistas of the river..โ‚ฌ๏ฟฝ โ‚ฌโ€บ Corridors with tiled mosaics and old prints. .โ‚ฌ๏ฟฝ

  • It has an edge-of-the-city feel, but itโ€™s not isolated at all, only a 2 minute walk from boundary of Old Town Hoi An.
  • Potentially the most attractive pool in Hoi An and Da Nang: striking and refined tile mosaics, abundant lounge chairs, with several appearing to float in the shallow end; adjacent to the breakfast and cafe area, and overlooked by guest rooms, so itโ€™s not that private.
  • A second pool is on the rooftop.
  • There are one hundred and nineteen rooms divided into five categories. An additional block with sixty-nine rooms in a similar aesthetic style is currently under construction next door.
  • Royal Deluxe Rooms โ€“ A mid-range room type; walk through a luggage area; dark wood flooring; an elegant old-fashioned desk; photos of old Hoi An; a curved sofa facing the balcony and views; an Oriental cushioned headboard; a free-standing tub with views envied elsewhere; separate toilet and shower cubicles.
  • Beneficial location and pool for family units, but the clientele skews somewhat older.
  • Bottom Line: Best upscale lodging within walking distance of the Old Town; lavish but not opulent, most elegant pool in Hoi An, good views, top place, quiet but not isolated.

13. Thanh Binh Riverside Hotel

a patio view of a house with a pool and treesHotel phone: +84 235 392 2923
This lovely hotel alongside the river provides a spacious and classy setting that is both relaxing and convenient. Despite being generously sized, the riverfront grounds offer a peaceful feel beneath shady palm trees, generating a pleasant tropical atmosphere by the ground-floor pool. Rooms overlooking the river may not have views of the water itself unless on upper floors, as they tend to overlook the pool area instead, but they are situated quietly away from street noises. Although facing the city, the Garden View Rooms still allow bright, cheerful interior spaces decorated with artful details and comfortable furnishings. Small balconies only allow just enough space for a wicker sofa yet maintain ocean breezes. Situated down a virtually empty street, the hotel lies a short 100 meter walk over a bridge to enter the historical main town.

Notes on Thanh Binh

  • Surprisingly large hotel block on 4 levels, facing the river, with no views of the Old Town.
  • Quaint charm and elegant style; terracotta shingles on sloping roofs, off-white outside walls and dark wood railings and door frames.
  • Excellent location, on a tranquil riverside street, only a 2 minute stroll from the edge of Old Town โ€“ 100m from the bridge.
  • Lakeside outdoor pool provides ample sunshine; large and with many palm trees and potted plants to offer some shade and tropical atmosphere.
  • Rooms with Garden Views don`t face the waterway โ€“ they would be more precisely called city view rooms. Even River View rooms offer closer perspectives of the pool than the river unless situated on higher floors.
  • Garden View Rooms โ€“ Spacious, with bright and tasteful art; some thoughtful furnishings like lotus-shaped lamp; long, dark wooden desk, rooms for 2 chairs; overall contemporary design; faces noisy road; commonly-found window between washroom and bedroom.
  • River View Rooms โ€“ These are calmer as they donโ€™t face the street; larger and nicer than the Garden View; spacious enough for 2 double beds; narrow balcony barely squeezes in a small wicker sofa.
  • Families will appreciate the well-kept pool and peaceful location, and some rooms are spacious enough for an additional single bed.
  • Bottom Line: Good location; decent pool; spacious rooms; meters from the bridge and Old Town.

14. Victoria Hoi An Beach Resort & Spa

a patio area with tables, chairs, and umbrellasHotel phone: +84 235 392 7040
A family friendly beachfront resort with Oriental design situated along the riverside road in Cau Dai beach around six kilometers from Hoi An by taxi. It presents itself beautifully with a pagoda entrance, lanterns along a village path, and gardens containing fish ponds and lilies. Guest rooms are in low-level blocks with some semi-detached and others offering genuine ocean views. Garden View Rooms have an exquisite bathroom with spa and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows facing extensive palm-fringed lawns, some even glimpsing the sea. The magnificent square pool is lined with tall palms, and a wide sandy bay nearby is shared with other resorts. It moderately caters to families with a playground, games room, tennis courts and water-sports services.

Notes on Victoria Hoi An Resort

  • Unique pagoda-style entrance up steps; swinging lanterns line a stone path surrounded by bougainvillea bushes, feels like a small village; koi fish and water lilies in ponds; spacious gardens.
  • Situated in a elongated section flanked by the riverside road on one side and beach on the other, though not directly facing the shoreline.
  • Attractive pale yellow and teal color scheme in the lobby, and Hoi An and Chinese style elsewhere.
  • All lodging consists of single or dual level structures, some partially separate and single level.
  • Beneficial location on Cau Dai beach, near the important road to Hoi An; there are a few shops and cafes along the road to Hoi An, and beachside cafes a few minutes south down the beach.
  • The private beach at the end of the hotel grounds is wide, wavy and pale, but seems shared by other hotels.
  • A lovely square pool sits parallel to the coast, with lounge chairs and palm trees, on a strip of grass facing the sea (though there is no sand).
  • Rooms overlooking the garden and pool at the hotel, some allowing decent perspectives of the sea as well (other lodgings may categorize this as a sea view accommodation); tasteful interior design; sizable sofa; intriguing artwork; polished hardwood floors; extensive desk; immense windows spanning the ceiling providing views of immaculate palm-fringed lawns from a large balcony; remarkably spacious bathroom with floor-to-ceiling window and spa seems even more expansive.
  • Japanese- or Colonial-themed suites face the sea, with Jacuzzi and outdoor shower.
  • The pools and coast are ideal for families, and there is a modest playground and activities room, water sports station, sports like petanque, badminton, tai chi, and 2 tennis courts.
  • Bottom Line: A lovely and elegant beachside resort, near enough to Hoi An.

15. Vinh Hung Emerald Resort

a large swimming pool with several tables and chairsHotel phone: +84 235 393 4999
Situated along the river with a village-like environment, yet a small distance away, this hotel is one of several similarly named accommodations around the city located on the Thu Bon River rather than the congested backwaters at the center of Hoi An. It functions as a standard beach resort focusing more on affordability and practicality over style and design, with room blocks adjacent to the pool, pond or gardens but not overlooking the waterway. The standard rooms have limited lighting and could be noisy if near the lobby or pool area, yet remain stylish inside and feature balconies facing the pool. The pool is a suitable size, well-shaded, and leads down to the river. Positioned among back alleys with a hamlet atmosphere, it does feel removed from the Old Town, though still within walking range, with plenty of cafes and shops nearby

Notes on Vinh Hung Emerald

  • One of 5 Vinh Hung resorts/hotels in the Hoi An area; this is closest to the Old Town and faces the Thu Bon River, far more impressive than the Hoia.
  • The set-up provides a classic beach resort experience, yet situated alongside the river with a sense of removed isolation from the Old Town while still being within walking distance to Old Town in just a few minutes.
  • Rooms are in attractive two-level block of brown and white, facing a pond, the pool, or patches of tropical greenery.
  • Located within the inner streets, so it has an authentic village atmosphere.
  • A decent enough pool, with plenty of shade.
  • Standard Rooms โ€“ A little dim and would be noisy if near the lobby or pool; stylish enough inside with desk, photos of Old Hoi An on the walls. All have balconies overlooking the gardens/pool, none are angled towards the river; balconies do face other balconies perhaps 30m away but with some palm trees in between. .
  • The HTML elements and backlinks remained unchanged

  • Families will appreciate the space and gardens, and kids would like the river setting. It is functional and affordable โ€“ another family benefit.
  • Bottom Line: Compact and practical; like a motel-style beach resort, emphasis more on location than facilities or luxury; affordable, good location for Old Town and river.
