Although I’m a die-hard coffee drinker, I love heading to Denver tea houses. There’s something about the ritual of making and drinking tea that soothes the soul. And in a chilly state like Colorado, it keeps you warm from head to toe while you’re out doing all the fun things in Denver.

Afternoon tea at The Brown Palace is not cheap, but it is top-notch. The beauty of the historic hotel, the exquisite sandwiches and pastries, the piano music, the great service, the delicious tea itself…it all combines to make you feel like one fancy person.
Embrace it – get dressed up, head out with your friends, and practice saying dahling in your best bougie voice all afternoon. Because tea at the Brown Palace is so popular, you’ll want to make a reservation well in advance.
Capital Tea

You can enjoy afternoon tea on-site at Capital Tea or order tea to bring home and enjoy. The on-site tea selection includes an assortment of tea sandwiches, mini scones, Devonshire cream, desserts, and unlimited pots of tea (the Earl Grey Lavender is on my list to try!)

Lumber Baron Inn
An unexpected, stately home makes a great backdrop for tea.

My husband and I stumbled upon the Lumber Baron Inn while walking in the neighborhood (and may have peeked in a window to witness the end of a wedding reception. I’ll never tell.)
This mansion makes a great spot for afternoon tea, and they also offer a Magical Tea and Victorian Card Reading for a fun twist. Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time.
Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse

Tea at the Dushanbe Tea House is one of the best things to do in Boulder. You can, of course, have tea here, but you can also order full meals at the restaurant all day long.
Afternoon tea includes a variety of teas, pastries, tea sandwiches, and wine or cocktails for an extra charge.
Cherokee Ranch & Castle

Visiting Cherokee Castle is on our list of things to do in Castle Rock (appropriately!). It was built in the early 1900s and made to resemble an ancient Scottish castle.

Pay a visit to Tea Street, a hidden gem in the Glendale neighborhood. Visitors can add chewy boba, jellies, puddings, and more tasty toppings to its milk tea creations. Popular flavors include Thai tea, jasmine green tea, taro, and Tieguanyin milk tea, a Taiwanese roasted oolong.
All teas served at Tea Street are sourced from Taiwan. Plus, several beverages are inspired by traditional Taiwanese recipes. I highly recommend trying these unique offerings, especially the kumquat winter melon tea and chrysanthemum tea. Also, nothing beats the heat like its lemon sweat, a delicious pickled lemonade.

I once walked into In-Tea and announced, “I’m sick and pregnant. What can you give me to make me feel better?” And through some kind of sorcery, they found me a tea that made me feel better.
Along with tea, In-Tea has pastries and a tea cocktail bar later in the day. A visit here is one of the many great things to do in Littleton.

The Elizabeth Hotel is one of the nicest places to stay in Fort Collins, and it offers afternoon tea at the Sunset Lounge. It includes tea in flavors like lemon lavender and Madame Grey, as well as scones, finger sandwiches, and desserts.
You can add on a bar cocktail for an extra charge.
Die Die Must Try
Order classic bubble teas and flavors unique to Singapore at this cheerful new spot in Cherry Creek North.

Die Die Must Try is a new Singapore-inspired bubble tea shop in Cherry Creek North. It’s located on the basement level of a retail complex and can be easy to miss if you’re driving through. But this hidden gem is definitely worth a stop.
You’ll find classic bubble tea flavors on the menu, like taro and oolong milk tea. There are also several options unique to Singapore, where the owners lived for 20 years. I especially recommend the Singapore fruit tea featuring soursop and calamansi fruits. It’s the perfect balance of tart and sweet!
Find more Singapore flavors inside Chen’s Night Market. This small retail nook inside the shop has snacks, seasonings, and more. A colorful mural and roll-top garage door add to the bright, cheery atmosphere.
TeaLee’s Teahouse and Bookstore

High tea in a bookstore is giving my Pride & Prejudice-loving heart some serious palpitations. You can make a reservation for high tea or for other special occasions, but you can also order tea, coffee, pastries, soups, and sandwiches at any time.
They will also host guests for a youth tea party, which sounds like the perfect birthday party for a tween with an appreciation for fancy things.

Old Barrel Tea Company
