First things first, welcome to Greta’s Travels!

As you may have guessed, I’m Greta, and this very originally named blog is all about my travels (I can be so creative sometimes).

I’m from Italy but every time I meet a new person they don’t believe me. My blonde hair combined to my American / Irish / Posh British accent can be very deceiving.

Truth is I grew up in Milan but attended an international school there, which combined to 5 years of living in London has given me a weird accent.

Oh and blonde Italians are much more common than people outside Italy realise.

I am the owner, creator, writer, photographer, videographer, social media manager, SEO expert and everything else involved in running a blog for Greta’s Travels.

I created this blog in November 2016 (although it actually only started as a YouTube channel and Instagram account, this website came later) when fed up of working in a corporate office in London, I decided I needed a creative outlet to share stories and advice about my main passion; travelling.

I used to be a creative and adventurous child who wanted to travel the world and save the planet while doing so, which is part of the reason I chose to study Geography at university.

Somewhere along the way I forgot about that and ended up working as a management consultant for a Big Four company (growing up sucks sometimes).

It took me two years of working a job I hated surrounded by people I didn’t like to make the decision  to escape the 9-5.

While I may have hated it at the time, I’m glad for those two years of office life, as it made me realise that life is too short to just think about taking a pay check home at the end of the month.

When I looked at partners and senior directors in the company I realised that I didn’t want to be like them in 10 years time.

Anybody that knows me personally will have at least once made fun of me for having FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out).

I started feeling this FOMO, that until then I only used to get at university for parties or social events I was missing, for places I had never seen or experiences I had yet to live.

I would be sat in the office thinking about all the amazing things I could be doing on the other side of the world.

Cheesy travel quotes like “We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us” really resonated with me.

One day the idea that I was missing out on life by being stuck in the office became too much, so I quit and started travelling.
