Hotels inside Grand Canyon National Park

Accommodation choices within the boundaries of Grand Canyon National Park itself are quite limited. While the options available aren`t without merit, advance reservations far in advance are strongly recommended (around 6 months) for those wanting to stay inside the park. However, for late bookings, checking the alternatives referenced below is advised.

In case planning is done quite some time in advance, in this section we`ll provide some information about where lodging can be found in the Grand Canyon, and later in the article we`ll discuss the campgrounds within the park.

Grand Canyon Village, the best place to stay in the Grand Canyon

Commonly, all individuals want to stay at the Grand Canyon South Rim, as it’s generally the most well-known area. Specifically, Grand Canyon Village is the ideal place to stay at the Grand Canyon given that it possesses the most impressive viewpoints and the finest hiking trails. Even though it’s accessible throughout the year, it is impossible to stay there without reserving lodging in the Grand Canyonnumerous months in advance (10 months approximately.).

Accommodation costs within the Grand Canyon are fairly high, so some people opt to stay near but outside the park to save money. Reservations inside the park can be made through the websites for Delaware North and Xanterra Parks & Resorts.

These are the hotels in the Grand Canyon South Rim:

Phantom Ranch, sleeping at the bottom of the Grand Canyon

Phantom Ranchis situated at the bottom of the Grand Canyon and is favored among hikers. However, the only way to reach it requires walking. The trail takes 8 miles down, yet keep in mind that the following day you`ll need to walk another 8 miles up. It`s unquestionably not the simplest choice.

If you’re looking for a place to stay in the Grand Canyon and you travel in summer, think carefully, since you can experience heat exhaustion due to the high temperatures. Also, consider that reservations must be scheduled fifteen months ahead, and if you don’t want to transport food with you, you’ll need to book meals as well. This is solely an option for those who plan their trip well in advance.

North Rim, another option to stay in the Grand Canyon

If touring the North Rim of Grand Canyon, the lone hotel onsite is the accommodation run by Forever Resorts.

Tusayan, the best option to stay in Grand Canyon (6 miles from South Rim)

If you don’t plan your trip many months in advance and you’re having trouble finding accommodations to sleep in the Grand Canyon,Tusayan is the first place to start looking. For me, it’s undoubtedly the best option to stay in the Grand Canyon, for many reasons that we’ll discuss now.

You won’t find low-cost lodging within the Grand Canyon here, but you’ll be merely 10 minutes by vehicle from the park entrance. This area also presents a wide assortment of restaurants that often have lower pricing than those inside the park, and sometimes you can even get good deals to stay close to the Grand Canyon.

If you find an available room at one of the following hotels, don’t hesitate to book:

In Tusayan, there’s an airport from which you can take a Grand Canyon helicoper tour; it’s undoubtedly the best approach to photograph and enjoy this natural wonder .

Williams, cheap accommodation in Grand Canyon (62 miles from South Rim)

If inexpensive accommodations are preferred over luxury options, you can certainly find the most affordable lodging in the Grand Canyon or reasonably priced rooms near the Grand Canyon in this town. Additionally, Route 66 passes through here, so it can serve as your base to make a brief detour to the Grand Canyon.

Although it’s one hour from the Visitor Center, it’s a good option for a stay in the Grand Canyon because it’s on the way to Las Vegas, and you can still find available rooms only a month in advance. These are the best accommodations in Williams:

If planning to visit Sin City, here we mention accommodation options in Las Vegas so you can enjoy some of its amazing themed hotels.

Grand Canyon West Rim, best accommodations

However, if your travel origin is Las Vegas instead of going there, remaining on the West Rim is a good choice for resting in the Grand Canyon as it`s closer to Vegas than prior places mentioned.

This place is not deemed as part of the National Park, as this region is managed by the Hualapai Native Americans. Additionally providing lodging within the Grand Canyon, it features lovely scenery and is the preferable choice if you`re in Las Vegas, have little time, and do not want to miss a brief visit to the Grand Canyon.

If you’re going to spend a night in this area, I suggest considering the following lodging options:

Tuba City, Grand Canyon East Rim accommodation

After exploring Monument Valley or Page, Arizona, if you proceed to the South Rim area of the Grand Canyon and desire lodging near the entrance, Tuba City offers a suitable alternative to staying inside the National Park.

This is a small community, inhabited by the Navajo Indians, that has different attractions. Being a small area, it only has two hotels with little availability, so we recommend scheduling in advance:

In addition to having this Iceland roadmap on hand, I recommend consistently checking Road.is for updates, as detours due to snow, overflowing rivers, storms or works may be necessary at times .

Kanab, hotels in the Grand Canyon North Rim

When visiting the North Rim, Kanab presents another option for staying at the Grand Canyon. This area is ideal since it lies close to many intriguing places – precisely in the center of the cross formed by Zion National Park, Page, Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon North Rim and therefore a strategic point for any west coast trip.

It’s also a good option if you’re searching for low-cost living quarters in the Grand Canyon. These are the top-rated hotels in Kanab:

Campgrounds in the Grand Canyon

Camping in Grand Canyon National Park is an excellent way to fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the great outdoors. As we had discussed at the beginning of this guide, making reservations well in advance is recommended for overnight stays in the park.

There are four approved campsites inside Grand Canyon National Park: one in the North Rim and three in the South Rim. For all of them, you must bring your own gear for camping. Additionally, there’s constantly glamping for those who want to camp but don’t have the necessary equipment. I recommend you reserve Arizona Luxury Expeditions if you have never camped before and want to try it in the best place imaginable, Grand Canyon Village.

Next, we’ll discuss a bit more about the authorized campsites.

Mather Campground

This was my accommodation in the Grand Canyon, and the experience was amazing.

Situated in the South Rim, it’s one of the most popular campgrounds. That’s why it’s necessary to schedule a stay there six months in advance. However, we managed to book it thanks to a cancellation two months before.

The campground opens from March through November and has sites available for pitching tents or parking caravans.

Additionally, they have laundry centers, bathrooms and showers, picnic tables, and fire pits. The costs are rather cheap; they’re between $18 and $50 a night. If you want to be near everything and in contact with nature, this is a good place to stay in the Grand Canyon.

North Rim Campground

This is one of the more popular campsites in the Grand Canyon, so reservations well in advance of your trip are recommended.

Located on the North Rim, their rates are cheaper and allow a maximum of two cars per site, with a price between $18 and $25 per night.

The camp is accessible from May to November (in winter, it’s covered with snow).

Trailer Village

Known as a place for recreational vehicle (RV) parking, its location in the South Rim makes it one of the best options for remaining in the Grand Canyon if traveling via motorhome.

While it’s advisable to reserve a spot ahead of time, with a little luck, you may be able to find an open site the same day you arrive. However, I suggest not risking it during the peak summer months.

Desert View Campground

Lastly, Desert View Campground is the best option if you arrive at the Grand Canyon through the east entrance (Desert View). It’s also a good option for those who don’t like to book because it’s available on a first come, first served basis. This option is suitable for both tents and RVs. Keep in mind that the campsite is only open during the summer months and its price is approximately $12.

This details everything required to comprehend lodging in the Grand Canyon. We hope this article aids you in understanding the most suitable location to stay in the Grand Canyon for your needs. We recognize it can be somewhat troublesome to choose, but once you reserve your accommodation in the Grand Canyon, all that is left is to relax and appreciate your adventure.

Have a nice trip!
