The Gili Islands comprise three tiny islands (Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air) that belong to Lombok, yet since visiting them is considered essential when traveling to Bali, we couldn`t exclude them from this list.

On these islands, you’ll find coastal areas with crystalline water full of sea turtles, where you can see underwater and also enjoy the premier nightlife experiences in Indonesia. 39. Goa Lawah, the bat cave

The Goa Lawah temple cave is known as being full of bats that visitors will see hanging from the ceiling. It’s not generally a crowded place visited by tourists, since it’s mainly included on most Bali itineraries, as it’s principally visited by locals. Even so, if you find yourself on the eastern part of the island, near Pedangbai, it is a location worth exploring in Bali.

The entrance fee is 15,000 IDR ($1) and the best time to visit depends on your comfort level around bats. If viewing them asleep and hanging from the ceiling is preferred, go anytime in the morning. To see them flying out of the cave, I recommend going late in the afternoon.

40. Wanagiri Hidden Hill, an interesting place to visit in Bali

Wanagiri Hidden Hill is a totally different place from what visitors will see in the remainder of Bali. On the shores of Lake Buyan (Bedugul), it’s currently one of the most popular attractions in the area.

This complex was created by and for tourists, and combines a series of stations where you can find swings, baskets, bamboo viewpoints, and all kinds of settings to take the most popular type of Bali photographs.

I do not believe the cost of 150,000 IDR ($10) provides fair value. However, if your goal is to capture the same photograph as internet influencers showcase, there is no better location.

41. Karang Boma Cliff, the best cliffs in Bali

The cliffs of Karang Boma are the most striking sights in Bali. To access this location, visitors must follow an unmarked trail from a parking area (marked on the map below) which leads to the cliffs.

Only 10 minutes away, the main cliff offers a 3,000-foot drop with views of the entire Uluwatu coastline, including the incredible Uluwatu temple below.

Please exercise extreme care; the cliff has no safety measures to stop individuals from falling if one gets too near to the edge.

Though until recently entrance was complimentary, locals have started charging 10,000 IDR ($0.80) owing to the rising popularity. The ideal time to visit is at sunset.

42. Banyumala Twin Waterfall, the best thing to see in Northern Bali

Banyumala is an incredible twin waterfall in northern Bali (Bedugul), between the Buyan and Tamblingan lakes. Photographs do not accurately portray the true scale of the waterfall, since it’s actually much taller than it appears.

To access the waterfall, you must descend some staircases (be cautious on the stairs in the last section). It will take approximately 15 minutes to go down and 20 to return. However, it is worth the visit.

The entrance fee for this waterfall is 15,000 IDR ($1), and at the base of the fall, you can take a dip.

43. Amed, a not very touristy area to visit in Bali

Amed is a series of coastal villages located in the east of Bali. Although its popularity is growing on the island for its incredible underwater scenery, there are still few tourists who visit this area, as connections elsewhere are limited.

If you have extra time and wish to experience a tranquil Balinese village, I recommend devoting a few days here.

Moreover, in finding diving lessons that are far more affordable than elsewhere across Bali, one can relax while observing the majestic summit of Mount Agung when swimming at Amed Beach. The finest interval during the day to do so is at sunset.

44. The abandoned plane, something curious to visit in Bali

Something peculiar to explore in Bali is the abandoned Boeing 737 located in Nusa Dua. Not even local people know how it arrived there. The owner of the plane is also unknown. A great thing to do in Bali involves independently investigating this curiosity.

45. Enjoy a massage, something mandatory to do in Bali

Treating yourself with a relaxing massage is an essential activity to partake in in Bali. Where else around the world can you find professional massages that last one hour for less than $ 15? (160,000 IDR).

Over 6 days, we received 3 distinct massages and found the best was in Tjampuhan Spa (Ubud).

​​46. Rent a scooter in Bali

If you want to freely explore the island at your own pace, I advise taking a scooter trip around Bali. This is the best method to independently see the entire island without needing to pre-book almost any tour (some, like Mount Batur, still require reservations).

Before I get into the finest regions to lodge in New York, you should know that the city comprises 5 boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. As you can envision, the finest region to stay in New York City is Manhattan, since the most notable pursuits in NYC are situated there. However, not all areas in Manhattan are equally as suitable.

47. Tegenungan, the most accessible waterfall in Bali

To be sincere, Tegenungan is not the most visually appealing waterfall in Bali. In reality, I would express that it’s last on the list of waterfalls that I’ve included in this list of places to visit in Bali. Beyond that, it’s one of the most touristy, since it’s only 20 minutes from Ubud, and you don’t have to walk to get to the base. However, it needs to be included on this list since it might be a good choice if you travel to Bali with very little time to spend.

The waterfall has a suitable area for swimming, although it’s often crowded during the prime hours of the day if you visit Bali during the high season. Additionally, it’s surrounded by shops and small eateries, so it’s a good choice for family outings and those who don’t expect to discover a hidden waterfall in Bali. It’s undoubtedly the most accessible waterfall in Bali.

48. Rafting in Ayung River, something fun to do in Bali

Rafting is one of the best activities in Bali if you want an adrenaline rush. The best place to do it is in the Ayung River, where, during the monsoon season, you can cross sections up to level IV. You can book a tour with a discounted here.

49. Diving in the USAT Liberty shipwreck (Tulamben)

Tulamben is considered one of the best places to scuba dive in Bali. Here, you can see blue spotted ribbontail ray, octopus, and scorpion fish among others. Additionally, you can dive around the USAT Liberty, a ship that sank in 1942.

If you haven’t dived before, I recommend considering this experience, which counts towards earning a PADI Open Water Diver certification. If you’re already a certified diver, then this is the activity for you.

50. Eat in the best Balinese Warungs

Warung are small family eateries where you can try traditional homemade Balinese cuisine.

You will see them everywhere, from the most remote waterfall to the noisiest city center. In the best local eateries, you can dine like royalty for less than $5.

There are thousands of small local eating establishments, making it difficult to recommend specific restaurants in each locale. However, when visiting Ubud, I strongly suggest patronizing the Dewa Warung and the Igalenca Warung. Those are two of my preferred dining options in Bali.

51. Getting married in Bali, the most romantic thing to do in Bali

Experiencing a Balinese wedding ceremony is amazing. However, it’s even more exciting to dress up in the typical bridal outfits of the “ Agung Clowns”, and get wed in a traditional Balinese ritual.

If you’re traveling as a couple and want to make your experience noteworthy, getting married is the most romantic thing to do in Bali.

52. Bali swing, the famous swing in Bali

Visiting the Bali Swing is one of the most popular things to experience in Bali.

The cost of the Bali Swing, the best-known swing in Bali, is IDR 385,000 ($ 25).

However, there is a marginally more affordable choice, the Zen Hideaway, situated near the previous swing. This swing is truly in an Airbnb, but for 250,000 IDR ($ 18) you can enjoy thirty minutes on this swing in the shared area of this lodging.

53. Campuhan Ridge Walk, a hike to do in Bali

Campuhan Ridge Walk is a 1.5-mile trail near Ubud where one can stroll across rice fields and view large palm trees.

The route normally takes between 2 to 3 hours depending on how many stops are made to appreciate the views. Almost the entire path is flat and there is no chance of becoming lost.

If participating in this excursion, I suggest undertaking it in the morning hours as conditions can become quite hot throughout the day.

54. Ubud Palace, another essential place to visit in Ubud

This temple is situated in Northern Bali, past Lovina and very near to the hot springs known as the Banjar Hot Springs.

56. Take a Balinese cooking class

Among Bali`s most novel activities is participating in traditional cooking classes offered throughout the island, usually including a local market visit and preparation of an appetizer, two main courses, and dessert.

All courses allow preparation of vegetarian dishes as an option. If you are in Ubud, that one is best for a cooking class, whereas if you are in Seminyak or Kuta, I would suggest this option or that one.

57. Attend a Kecak dance show

The “ Kecak Fire & Trance dance” involves a type of performance that is notably famous in Bali. During this presentation, a group of males sings while gracefully moving their arms to create a pattern. At the same time, dancers clothed in vibrant colors depict the story of Ramayana. Fire also plays an integral role in the show.

This specific style of dance can regularly be witnessed across numerous spots on the island, with the Ubud Palace and Uluwatu temple hosting the most popular showings. It is important to note that, despite common misconceptions held by most travelers, it did not originate as a conventional dance form but was instead developed in the 1930s to attract visitors. Regardless, I feel it offers an engaging activity for those exploring Bali for the initial time.

58. Best museums in Bali. Something to do in Bali if it rains

As rain is commonplace in Bali, planning alternative activities is prudent on rainy days. Museums provide shelter and engagement for those seeking refuge from inclement conditions.

If you are in the Ubud region, the ARMA gallery (Agung Rai Museum of Art) holds a lovely selection of traditional artwork. The exhibition space is found in the Arma Museum & Resort, a 4-star accommodation, you can enter the gallery free of charge.

Another museum in Ubud that differs greatly from previous ones mentioned is the Museum of Don Antonio Blanco, an eccentric Spanish artist who gained much popularity in Bali for his artistic works. He became so renowned that some considered him the “Dali of Bali”. Entrance to this museum also costs 80k IDR.

The Bali Museum, as we have earlier specified, is the optimum museum if in Denpasar and wanting to discover more about the culture and history of the island. The admission fee is 50,000 IDR. ($ 3.50)

59. Yoga studios in Bali (Indonesia)

Bali is renowned for relaxation and good vibes. Over recent years, it has become a popular location for yoga getaways. The most popular places to take yoga classes in Bali are Ubud, Uluwatu and Canggu.

Of all the yoga studios across Bali, the most well-known is The Yoga Barn, located within Ubud. This facility amalgamates yoga classes, accommodations, natural treatments, retreats, healthful cooking, and much more.

The price if you book just one yoga session is IDR 130,000 ($ 9 approx). However, they provide discounts if you take additional sessions, with a price of $ 6 per class if you book several sessions.

60. Turtle Sanctuary in Bali

There is just one turtle sanctuary in Bali where protecting these animals is more significant than tourism money. It’s called the “ Turtle Conservation And Education Center (TCEC)” and it’s situated in Serangan, in the east of Kuta.

This center runs solely through donations, and volunteers are accountable for safeguarding the turtles’eggs, liberating the turtles when they turn one month old, and rehabilitating injured turtles. They also raise awareness in the local population, exposing them to the damages caused by the illegal trade of these animals and their eggs.

If you’re asking your driver or guide to take you there, just tell them the address: Jalan Tukad Punggawa Lingkungan Ponjok, Serangan. From Kuta, it only takes 15 minutes.

If informing drivers or guides of desires to visit the Turtle Sanctuary, they will likely propose Turtle Island, as all transporting travelers to that location receive remuneration for referrals.

Of course, on Turtle Island, you must purchase a ticket to see the turtles. However, I do not recommend this location because it represents an area where turtles experience mistreatment. In this false turtle sanctuary, animals are crammed into dirty enclosures. Guides will allow you to remove turtles from the water to take photographs and of course, turtles that breed are not released but instead sold illegally. That is why I urge you to avoid visiting this place. Be sure that the center you tour is the TCEC, the sole location in Bali where ensuring the welfare of turtles remains the top priority.
