6. How to get around Bali
When organizing a travel to Bali, one of the key concerns is generally how best to navigate around Bali. Here, we provide four possibilities that will rely somewhat on your budget and interests.
Transfers in Bali
Booking transportation arrangements in Bali can be a suitable option to travel from Denpasar airport to Ubud and other areas of the island. However, organizing transportation arrangements in Bali may prove difficult. If that is the case, you’ll need to hire your own vehicle or enlist a private driver directly for all the transfers you have to complete during the day, which will save you some money.
Even if you plan to hire scooters in Bali, I recommend avoiding doing so at Denpasar Airport. It’s preferable to book a transfer from Bali Airport to Ubud or to the area where you’re going to spend the initial day of your trip in Bali and familiarize yourself with traffic before driving.
We reserved the initial transport from Denpasar to Ubudhere, since the cost was lowest what we found. Moreover, we appreciated our driver so much that we hired him as a private driver for the following few days of our journey to Bali.
Scooter rental in Bali
Dan rode a rented two-wheeled vehicle during his trip to the Indonesian island of Bali and wrote a guide providing everything needed to know for anyone leasing a motorcycle in Bali. Some of the tips for traveling to Bali that he provides in that guide are:

You should also remember that scooters are commonly used for transportation in Bali, and traffic congestion can sometimes be severe. If operating scooters is not appealing to you, I suggest you hire a private driver in Bali before leasing your own vehicle.
Private driver in Bali
Undoubtedly, privately hiring a driver in Bali solely for one`s personal use provides the most convenient option, nevertheless it also proves to be the costliest method. Normally, one can rent the services of a private driver in Bali for a set number of hours (10 hours) in which they will deliver you anywhere desired. We had initially reserved a private driver through here, however when we met with our allotted driver during the transfer from the airport to Ubud, we liked him to such an extent that we canceled the other reservation.

GRAB – Uber in Bali
Before traveling to Bali, Dan recommended I download an app similar to Uber or Lyft and told me that it worked quite well in Bali for short journeys.
However, I tried to utilize it during my trip, and there were nearly never any motorists nearby.
I could only use the ride-hailing application once in Ubud, and the driver told me that local taxi operators had openly declared war against this service, since the prices were much lower than those that the taxi drivers charged tourists. Public Transportation in Bali
Even though there is public transportation in Bali, it’s slow, and there is little data about it online. It’s true that it’s the best way to travel to Bali on a tight budget, but I don’t recommend it if you are going to spend a short time on the island.
The most common forms of transportation are the Kura Kura, small green buses, the Bemo, a kind of van, and the Trans Sarbagita, conventional blue buses.

Another of my tips for traveling to Bali, if you don`t wish to rent a vehicle or motorbike or hire an expensive private driver either, is to book some excursions, particularly to those parts of Bali that are more inaccessible or where going with a local guide is mandatory. You will also need to hire tours or ferries to visit one of the archipelagos of paradise islands surrounding Bali.

If you’re visiting the island for just a few days and wish to see almost everything in a very brief timeframe, you’ll need to hire some guided tours. The higher-end budget is for those who are traveling for a special occasion, honeymoons in Bali, or for all those who can afford it. 9. Bali visa information
If travelling from one of these 169 nations for a short holiday in Bali (under 30 days), you will receive an exemption from needing a visa. If you think you’ll remain in Bali for less than 30 days but you aren`t certain, I propose applying for your visa on arrival (VOA) at the arrival airport. This visa solely allows you to stay in Bali for 30 days, but, one week before it expires, you have the option to extend it for an additional 30 days. If you enter Bali without paying the VOA, you will not be able to lengthen your permit.
The cost of the Bali visa on arrival is $35 and you can obtain it directly at the airport upon arrival. To renew it, you will have to go to immigration several times, so some travelers prefer to hire an agency directly to manage it, although it’s usually more expensive.
If you`ve run out of time for renewal or failed to request your VOA upon arrival in Indonesia, another choice is to leave and re-enter the country (either with the visa exception to Bali or with the VOA). You can do it even on the same day, and you will have another 30 days in Bali, though this is likely the priciest choice. Additionally, they will very probably ask for your flight leaving the country to confirm you don`t plan to stay in Indonesia longer .
10. Is Bali safe to visit?
Though security in Bali may bring to mind terrorist attacks, earthquakes, and tsunamis in Bali, the reality is you needn`t worry about such things.
