- For families, the finest districts in Venice to consider are Castello and Giudecca. Both locations are calmer than the more central areas while still being easily accessible to Venice`s breathtaking sights. Castello surrounds the Arsenale di Venezia (a 12th century Byzantine shipyard) and includes a huge public garden at its southeast end, several important churches, and is within walking range of most of Venice`s attractions. Giudecca sits on the south side of the Venetian Lagoon, just a brief vaporetto ride to San Marco or Dorsoduro. This laidback neighborhood provides lovely views of the city from its waterfront trattorie, artist studios, art-filled churches, and rich history.

Superior rooms have private terraces and lovely city perspectives. Additionally, there are quaint apartments (sleeps family of 4) just meters from the hotel with full kitchens (dishwashers and washing machines). Set on a serene side street off the canal and near water taxis and many top attractions. (This is where we stayed on our most recent visit.)
