HCMC Hotels – Tips and Advice

  • The best area to lodge in Ho Chi Minh City is the neighborhood of District 1, extending somewhat into District 3. Any further away and sights may not be within walking distance, and neighboring shops and cafés are unlikely to have English-speaking staff.
  • District 1 in Ho Chi Minh City covers a broad region, with three primary hotel zones: around the Opera House (considered the most prestigious area, with expensive accommodations and many nearby attractions that can be reached on foot), along the Saigon River (facing the waterway with riverside cafes and cruise boarding offices nearby), and Pham Ngu Lao (the epicenter for budget travelers; one square kilometer bursting with lodging, eateries, shops, travel agencies and nightclubs).
  • An exciting alternative is staying at the coastal resort town of Vung Tau, which is 75 minutes away by hydrofoil from downtown Saigon River. This is much more appealing during the week, as it bursts with day-trippers and people staying overnight from the city on weekends.
  • Taxis are ubiquitous and affordable, and all use meters. Vinasun is the best taxi company. If time is limited, you can quickly ride on a Grab motorbike taxi (with a passenger on the back). Use the excellent ride-share app (similar to Uber) for a set fare rather than negotiate with drivers directly on the streets.
  • The airport is merely 8 km away, but contingent on traffic, it can be a 20-45-minute trip. Taxis are the optimum way there and back. Reserve one through your hotel or a travel agency.
  • Travel agencies in Pham Ngu Lao sell tickets for comfortable tourist buses and minivans traveling throughout Vietnam.
  • The transportation hub mentioned in a link, the train station, provides reasonably convenient rail access extending as far as Hanoi.
  • Well-stocked convenience stores are plentiful. Numerous upscale boutiques surround District 1, while shopping malls are located further outside in the suburbs.

1. The Reverie

Luxurious in a prime location. The Revelry does not hold back when it comes to decor. The lobby contains a gold-plated clock over 6 feet in height and elevators lined with polished agate. No expense has been spared with the rooms, also; they’re jam-packed with handcrafted Italian furnishings. They feature cushioned walls, electric curtains, and state-of-the-art coffee machines. Suites have mosaic-tiled walls and bathroom floors. Offices, apartments, and shops occupy the lower measures, so all views from the full-length windows in the rooms and suites are excellent, not so from the pool/jacuzzi area. Somehow, the hotel is almost hidden along a broad boulevard between City Hall and Saigon River, and it’s walkable to many attractions and popular cafés.

Situated on a corner overlooking a tiny park and the Saigon River, it’s encircled by cafes and shops within easy walking distance of attractions around District 1.
(118)”” “Without notable attractions like beaches, marinas, castles, or spectacular coastlines, Izmir does not hold trendy or fancy status, but Turkey`s third most populous city still offers great charm. The city center is compact and the metro system excellent – even connecting downtown to the airport. There are a few museums, churches, and even synagogues to explore, but the primary draws are the extraordinary market in the old town and very long promenade featuring a dedicated cycling path and bike share facilities. Further advantages include the hotels, which are generally priced for locals instead of tourists, and the excellent transportation: frequent domestic and international flights, common buses along the coastline, and daily trains to Ankara and Istanbul.
