71 Best London Restaurants

Los Mochis

🍽️ Japanese & Mexican culinary fusion | $$$ price point | website | 📍 location

a living room filled with tables and chairs

Los Mochis skillfully blends Mexican and Japanese cuisines in dishes taking inspiration from both cultures. The restaurant has two beautiful locations in Notting Hill and the City of London.

This eatery is the perfect destination to stop by after work, for romantic evenings, or when hanging out with companions. The City Los Mochis venue remains open later than most places until 3am Thursday through Saturday and boasts a breathtaking rooftop with views of some of London’s most iconic high-rises.

Some of our favorites from the menu were the sushi rolls – we tried the cucumber avocado (pictured above), wagyu guajillo, and spicy hiramasa. The salmon served over crispy rice (pictured above) was also to die for and the tacos were delightful to eat. The spicy jalapeno margaritas were our drink of choice.

Straker’s

After seeing the positive buzz about Straker’s on TikTok, I knew I had to check it out to see if it lived up to expectations. Spoiler alert: it absolutely did – every dish we tried was enjoyable.

Owned and run by renowned chef Thomas Straker, this intimate restaurant nestled on buzzing Golborne Road in Notting Hill is the perfect spot for a cozy date night.

Certain menu items rotate monthly, but we were delighted that the renowned mussel flatbread had returned to the menu, and had to give that a try. The stars of the event were the pink fir potatoes, which possessed the most incredible smoky flavor and the melt-in-the-mouth steak. Be sure to save room for dessert and get the donuts for a sweet conclusion!

Daphne’s

🍽️ Modern European | $$$ | Website | 📍 Google Maps

Daphne’s is likely to be among the most beautifully designed restaurants one may ever step inside. From the moment of arrival, friendly faces and a tastefully decorated dining room welcome all.

The establishment offers rather elegant dishes, making it the perfect setting for evening plans in London or a memorable occasion. You will find fine Italian cuisine, featuring a selection of appetizer dishes to rich pasta and hearty main courses of meat and seafood. They also have a vegetarian menu, an excellent wine list, and novel cocktails.

I visited this restaurant around Christmastime, which I highly recommend. They fully immerse themselves in the decorations, making you feel as though you’ve entered a classic holiday film.

Tenmaru

🍽️ Japanese cuisine | Moderate price range | Website | 📍 Google Maps

Tenmaru is a cute little ramen shop with two locations in London, Oxford Circus and Finsbury Park. This spot deserves consideration if you love Japanese cuisine, as the authentic Izakaya-style small plates and ramen are certain to capture part of your heart.

The noodles at Tenmaru not only stood out as the finest ramen I’ve found in London, but the finest I’ve ever tasted (note that I am yet to visit Japan, where that could potentially change). I tried the Tan Tan Men, which was delicious with pork mince, egg, pak choy, sesame, spring onion, chive, and red chilli in a rich broth.

Additionally, the individuals staffing the restaurant were incredibly friendly.

Bubala

🍽️ Middle Eastern cuisine | Moderate pricing | Online presence | 📍 Locator

Bubala specializes in meat-free Middle-Eastern cuisine with creative flavors that satisfy and entice customers to return. The two London locations (Spitalfields and Soho) omit meat but make up for it with astounding flavor blends.

In addition to the flavorful produce, Bubala offers a great selection of wines, cocktails, and even a vegan menu. We had the set vegetarian sampling menu for dinner at the Spitalfields location, comprised of 10 dishes (and if you’re lucky, they may even add a couple of bonuses).

Some of my preferred dishes were the burnt butter hummus, crispy laffa bread, fried eggplant slices, charred oyster mushroom skewers, and confit potato pancakes.

Granger & Co.

🍽️ Australian Brunch | $$ | Website | 📍 Google Maps

a plate of food on a table

Australians have a track record for hosting an amazing brunch, and that remains accurate at this joined launched by the late Australian eminent chef Bill Granger called Granger & Co. Even with numerous places in London, word of a pleasing meal spreads rapidly, so make certain you book ahead of time.

Something I particularly valued about the theme of the menu at Granger & Co. is that the dishes emphasize health and simplicity, yet still carry a lot of flavor. One of the most well-known items that the restaurant is recognized for is the sweetcorn fritters (pictured above). I enjoyed these so much that I searched online and tried them at my home!

I would strongly advise visiting the place on Pavilion Road in Chelsea, and then exploring the lovely surrounding area after your meal.

The Pig’s Head

a plate of food on a table

As I continue sampling my way through the prime pubs of London seeking out the finest Sunday roast, I couldn’t help but share this gem nestled in the heart of Clapham that I happened upon. The Pig’s Head, an adorable gastropub, boasts a menu that varies daily, leaving you wanting to return and try all of the offerings.

We went for the Sunday spread and I was quite pleased with the offerings that day. Many places provide either pork belly or pork crackling meals, so I was delighted when I spotted pulled pork on the menu, something I haven`t encountered at other pubs. The meat was exceedingly delicate and succulent, and the sides were also delectable.

You are sure to leave feeling satisfied after dining at this London restaurant! The Pig’s Head offers top-quality roast meats.

La Famiglia

Amongst many amazing Italian cuisine options in London, La Famiglia is a family-run restaurant located in the lovely neighborhood of Chelsea. It has been operating since 1966 and remains going strong.

My favorite aspect of the restaurant, besides the cuisine, is the friendly staff and authentic feel that transports you to Tuscany.

Offering both indoor and outdoor seating, this is a great restaurant to visit anytime of year, but if you happen to go in the summer, they have a lovely outdoor terrace that enhances the dining experience.

Some dishes I tried when I was there, all of which were fabulous, incorporated the Piccante Al Limone (pictured), Bruschetta Alla Romana, Rucola Con Parmigiano, and Girasoli Pomodori Secchi E Burrata, which was a special filled pasta from their seasonal menu.

Berenjak

🍽️ Persian | $$ | Website | 📍 Google Maps

a table that has some plates of food on it

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Berenjak, a Persian culinary oasis nestled in Borough Market, and it immediately became one of my top 3 preferred restaurants in London.

As you enter the restaurant you’ll notice a couple things: it is always full of patrons, it often has a queue (this is usually a great indicator of amazing food), and it has a spectacular Middle Eastern atmosphere.

Now, we will learn how to interpret Aurora forecasts and Northern Lights maps to predict Northern Lights activity in real-time.

I would strongly advise trying the tasting menu with a group so you can sample more items. The portion sizes are generous, so make sure you arrive hungry.

Bancone

a plate of food on a table

Bancone is a widely known Italian establishment located in London, with good reason justifying its popularity. The venue collects over 1.7K reviews averaging 4.5 stars, compelling me to explore. It is renowned for its delicate silk handkerchief pasta dish, and the menu at Bancone offers several indulgent options to try.

The food and beverages at this eatery are not merely delicious but also very affordable! It will be challenging to find a negroni for 7 British pounds in any other spot in London like what this joint offers, and in three distinct variations, if I add.

Portion sizes for pastas ranged from 9-17 pounds per serving. We started with focaccia and burrata before delving into pasta dishes. Those tried included rich buttery silk handkerchiefs, hearty kale rigatoni, and a spicy pork and nduja ragu mafalde.

Okan

🍽️ Authentic Japanese cuisine | Moderate prices | Website | 📍 Google Maps location

a store with a bunch of signs hanging from the ceiling

Situated in London’s South Bank area, with two additional sites across London, OKAN is an authentic Japanese eatery drawing inspiration from Osaka, Japan. One of the top aspects of this restaurant is being able to view your meal being cooked directly before you!

I would strongly recommend opting for the counter seats to savor the ambiance to the fullest. With few tables, this restaurant has an intimate and cozy feel. They serve up several delicious Japanese curries, noodle dishes, and appetizers, including an incredible prawn gyoza.

Japan is a dream travel location for many, and I feel that Okan provides insight into the world of dining there.

Taverna Trastevere

Renowned famously as London’s top spot to obtain the sacred creamy Italian pasta, carbonara, Taverna Trastevere is a cozy Roman eatery in Southwest London worth adding to your list.

Everything about Taverna Trastevere shouts authenticity, from the brick walls to the delicious Italian offerings. The menu has a selection of Roman classics, with pizzas, pasta, and a cocktail list filled with drinks that are popular in Italy. I tried their famous carbonara, which has quite a reputation in London, and it lived up to the hype.

With generous portions, reasonable prices and great service, this location is an obvious choice for Italian fare during your London trip.

Gold

If you long for the vibe of California without departing London, look no farther than Gold in Notting Hill. Equipped with gorgeous interior designs, greenery, and a stunning back patio, you will appreciate the atmosphere of this restaurant just as much as the fare.

Gold is the ideal spot for a girls’ night out or an afternoon lunch stop after wandering the luxurious streets of Notting Hill or scouring for your next vintage find at the Portobello Road Market. The restaurant offers a cozy neighbourhood feel by day and a lively place for cocktails by night.

Every dish we tried was packed with so many incredible flavors, utilizing seasonal produce. My friend and I received all veggie shared plates, where our favorites were the chickpea salad, chargrilled hispi cabbage, and roasted cauliflower.

🍽️ Contemporary European | $$$ | Website | 📍 Google Maps

10 Greek Street is a small, unassuming yet cozy restaurant in the heart of central London Soho. Be on the lookout for the subtle sign or you may pass it by!

This restaurant is worth visiting for its comfortable environment, friendly staff, and menu containing innovative daily dishes made for sharing with others. I would highly advise going there with a friend or partner to enjoy the creatively changing options.

On the menu, expect various appetizers and larger dishes. Options range from seafood, tasty cuts of meat, to vegetable entrees, each with a unique blend of flavors.

City Spice

City Spice is located on the corner of Brick Lane in Shoreditch, which is London’s most famous street for Indian cuisine. City Spice offers something unique with distinctive flavor blends, homemade dishes, and attentive service.

The food at City Spice has received several awards, and tasting it yourself will help you understand why. In addition to its traditional curry menu, Executive Chef Niaz has curated a vegan curry menu, further diversifying the dishes for non-meat eaters.

One of my favourite things about City Spice is the kind and helpful staff, including the executive chef who provided us a personalized experience. All of the food is fresh, homemade, and delicious. Our preferred dishes include the chicken tikka biryani, lamb shatkora, and fluffy garlic naan.

Casa do Frango

🍽️ Portuguese | $$ | Website | 📍 Google Maps

a large group of people inside of a building

Casa do Frango is one of the most affordable restaurants I`ve come across in London, but their competitive pricing doesn`t translate to a drop in food quality.

This authentic Portuguese establishment has multiple venues located in London such as a downtown London Bridge location, an East London site in Shoreditch, and one presently in Victoria within Westminster.

Amongst the bright and airy atmosphere where visitors will be surrounded by gorgeous vegetation, guests can enjoy a selection of Portuguese sharing plates, with their half chicken being the featured item of the menu.

Some of my preferred dishes include chorizo, fried green beans, iberico pork croquettes, and charred cauliflower. Be sure to save space for dessert to try the delicious Portuguese custard tart, Pastel de nata.

Chiltern Firehouse

Chiltern Firehouse is the ultimate London restaurant for a romantic evening out. Between the intimate and cozy atmosphere, thoughtful selection of dishes, attentive service, and central London location, this restaurant is truly exceptional.

Set in a luxury 5-star hotel, this restaurant is award-winning and also has a reputation of being one of the restaurants most frequented by celebrities in London. The dishes are based on seasonal ingredients and healthy eating, with a modern take on American classics. The menu boasts everything from high-end seafood to rustic pizzas.

Situated in Marylebone, you can choose between sitting in the lovely dining room or the magical patio area. You’ll want to book this place well in advance of your trip for the best chances of securing a reservation!

Ottolenghi

Ottolenghi pays homage to famous Israeli-British chef and restaurateur Yotam Ottolenghi, featuring several creative Mediterranean small plates and desserts within an elegant atmosphere.

With establishments spread across 8 places in London and expansions underway, each dining spot offers its unique flavor and mouthwatering dishes sure to inspire home cooks.

This is a great restaurant for date night or a night out with friends, where you will bond over the flavourful dishes such as spiced date cake and drinks in an inviting setting.

After checking out the Spitalfields place, the largest Ottolenghi restaurant in London, the novel flavors of the dishes I tried left me wanting more. My preferred dish was the eggplant, and I couldn’t leave without sampling one of the many lovely desserts displayed at the front of the restaurant.

Brilliant Corners

.

This location called Brilliant Corners has East London written all over it, with its indistinct entrance, dimly-lit ambiance, and live DJ. These are just a few of the diverse components that this Japanese establishment entails.

Brilliant Corners is an excellent choice for indecisive diners as all patrons with a booking will be served their choice of a 45-pound set menu, including options for meat and fish eaters, vegetarians, and vegans to suit differing dietary preferences.

We opted for the meat and fish set, which included some of the freshest sushi-grade fish I’ve had in London. An orange wine was the perfect pairing to enjoy with our meal.

Emilia’s Crafted Pasta

🍽️ Italian cuisine | $$ mid-range price | Restaurant website connection | 📍 Google Maps area reference

The homemade pasta prepared on-site at this charming and cozy Italian establishment does not disappoint. With 4 locations in London that are often at full capacity, I highly recommend visiting Emilia`s for a quality plate of pasta, paired with an Aperol spritz and followed by a decadent dessert.

We opted for the carbonara and the 4-hour slow-cooked cream sauce pasta, both of which left us satisfied, but also wanting more. You can taste the quality of the fresh egg noodles with every bite, and the abundant list of pasta choices on the menu will make your selection of dish challenging.

This place offers another great aspect – its menu prices are very reasonable, especially in an expensive city like London. Patrons leave knowing they received good value.

The moment you step into this gorgeous restaurant, you’ll realize your dining experience is set to get even better. With tables surrounded by greenery and magnificent light exhibits, the setting at Brother Marcus is pleasant and enhances the culinary experience.

In addition to the great atmosphere, the dishes at Brother Marcus do not disappoint. This Eastern Mediterranean spot was founded by three best friends and has 4 unique locations scattered across London.

Renowned for some of the best brunch in London, they also offer excellent lunch and dinner shareable plates, boasting a friendly atmosphere where the intent is to make you feel part of the family while you’re there.

Some dishes my friends and I tried, all of which were extraordinary, included: za’atar baked cauliflower, selection platter with hummus, fennel tzatziki, smoked eggplant baba ghanoush, feta and ricotta filo pastry, crispy eggplant skewer, feta chips, and my individual favorite, the pan-fried halloumi with honey and sesame seeds.

ROKA

🍽️ Japanese | $$$ | Website | 📍 Google Maps

a plate of food on a table

London is reputed to have some fantastic bottomless brunches, but from my experience, ROKA has proved to be the best since living here, surpassing all others.

Departing from the typical brunch foods of avocado toast, eggs benny, or a full English breakfast, ROKA provides an exquisite selection of shared Japanese plates, main courses, and freely flowing red, white, and rosé wines and prosecco.

ROKA is a great spot to go with a group, and also a great excuse to dress formally. There is a lot of sharing involved and the appetizers are unlimited, so the larger the group, the better to make the most of your experience.

Their bottomless menu includes appetizers such as tempura sweet potato, mouth-watering dumplings, salad, fresh sushi and sashimi, Japanese fried chicken, and more. They also serve regular lunch and evening meals.

With two locations in West London, this mouth-watering Chinese restaurant will leave you feeling full and satisfied. Sichuan PoPo is my preferred Chinese restaurant I’ve tried in London, and with a large menu, you will not have trouble finding something that tickles your fancy.

This eatery provides Sichuan-style street foods, with options ranging from dumplings to handmade fresh noodles. Each dish is packed with flavors, and the prices won’t exceed your budget.

My favorite dishes I’ve tried include the handmade wontons in chili oil, stir-fried beef Ho-fun, Shanghai-style juicy pork dumplings, and the freshly made flat BiangBiang noodles.

If you’re seeking one of the finest dining establishments in London that will truly astonish you, look no farther than Manteca. This gorgeous Italian bistro is renowned for its hand-rolled pasta and in-house charcuterie. Despite London having many of the world’s best restaurants, this locale stood out to me when I tried it.

Beyond the incredible à la carte menu featuring fresh pasta and a wonderful wine list, including one of my personal favorites (orange wine), the atmosphere and service are what make Manteca a lovely dining experience. Situated on Curtain Rd., this restaurant’s interior spaces have stunning designs that make it the perfect cozy spot for a romantic evening out.

Hawksmoor is a popular upscale steakhouse renowned for its mouthwatering cuts of meat and succulent Sunday roasts. They also offer reasonably priced 2 and 3-course set menus.

With several locations across London, other parts of the UK, New York City, and Dubai, each Hawksmoor restaurant possesses its unique and elegant ambiance. I’ve visited two of the London locations for a Sunday roast, and the quality each time has been outstanding.

Roasts are served with roasted garlic, beef-dripping roasted potatoes, carrots, greens, a giant Yorkshire pudding, and bone marrow gravy. This is one of the most indulgent roasts you’ll find in London, so be sure to bring your appetite!

Elliot’s Borough Market

Elliot’s is a lovely restaurant, bar, and natural wine store with places in Borough Market and Hackney. As you can likely deduce, they have an impeccable selection of wines, and I had the chance to try a special small batch of orange wine from Australia, which was phenomenal.

Something I love about this restaurant is that the produce is sourced from traders in Borough Market, along with other farmers and fishermen in the UK and Europe, emphasizing the importance of sourcing locally, which also made the dishes taste even better.

One thing they’re known for is their pizzas, which have the dough made without using additives in their wood-fired oven. I would recommend booking at least a week in advance if you want to experience this place.

Terra @ EATALY

EATALY is an iconic Italian marketplace equipped with takeaway eats, an impeccable wine selection, and mouth-watering restaurants and bars. It opened its doors in London a couple years ago, following the success of other venues in Italy and the US.

Artisanal Italian Grill Terra is one of the eateries found inside and provides an all-around magnificent dining experience. The atmosphere evokes secret garden vibes, with dangling foliage and twinkling lights. The customer service is also quite attentive.

From their grill menu, I sampled the ‘Polpo’ dish containing grilled octopus arranged over mashed potatoes and topped with tasty salami crisps, and my companion had the bolognese. Both of us sincerely enjoyed our meals, and what dining experience would be complete without some gelato to cleanse the palate?

This restaurant is located in Brixton, Southwest London, and is known for its sharing plates utilizing local seasonal ingredients and its wide selection of natural wines. Innovation truly meets art at Naughty Piglets, and each dish looks like a masterpiece.

The menu changes daily, with a few long-standing favorites left on the menu since the establishment`s creation.

The flavor mixings in the nourishments were truly astounding. My top choice dish I tried was a chocolate mousse that had cream and shortbread shavings on top. The sweet and salty blend made us request a second helping!

👉 Pro Tip: This restaurant is so intimate that it only seats 29 people at a time, so make sure you book in advance so that you don’t miss out on this hidden gem!

The initial recommendation I would provide for this innovative Indo-Chinese small plates eatery situated in Soho and Covent Garden is to reserve a table at Fatt Pundit ahead of time. Despite London containing many incredible dining establishments, there is clearly reason that highly sought spaces fill up promptly.

Fatt Pundit is a restaurant serving small plates where tasting a range of flavors is guaranteed to send your sense of taste on a journey. Dishes packed with bold flavors are offered on the menu including various types of momos, popcorn cauliflower, sticky sesame vegetables (my favorite I sampled), chilly prawns, Manchurian chicken, and more.

There are so many things to appreciate about Brawn, a charming Mediterranean restaurant on Columbia Road. The decor and atmosphere spanning across two rooms are very simple, yet rustic, making it a comfortable and cozy setting to enjoy your meal.

We had the pleasure of sitting in the area with the open kitchen, which was a delightful experience. When it came time to choose menu items, it was truly a very difficult decision, as there were so many great alternatives to select from.

We started with the delicious sourdough bread and butter, olives, cornish crab with fennel, and parmesan fritters (these were to DIE for). For the main courses, I opted for the pork with pumpkin, while my friend had the spaghetti with clams.

For dessert, we indulged in a delicious yet light-salted dark chocolate mousse with olive oil (a combination that surprisingly works very well).

As an avowed pizza aficionado, I have sampled many pizza eateries throughout my time in London and I must say this establishment is unmatched. The freshness of the dough, the ingredients, and the ambience of the restaurant make it an obligatory visit spot for pizza lovers during a trip to London.

Some of my favorite pizza varieties I`ve sampled include the Diavola, which provides a nice kick, and the Regina with fresh burrata added on.

They take traditional Mediterranean dishes, adding a modern and creative twist to take your taste buds on a journey through Israeli culture.

I visited this establishment with one companion, so we had to judiciously select the number of dishes tried considering everything on the menu sounded enticing. Dishes sampled and advised were sweet butter hummus, aubergine mess, brisket doughnut, and kebab dumplings.

I`ve heard incredible things about the prawn baklava and plan to return to try it! Bala Baya also provides a tasting menu, a perfect choice for sampling various dishes.

Both locations provide some of the same favorite dishes, but also have a selection of foods that differ. I always enjoy sampling tapas or any chance to try various dishes, so if you feel the same,

I would suggest Morito for the vast variety of dishes and intimate ambiance. We opted for veggie options this time and received the chicory salad, patatas bravas, Padron peppers, bread, and olives.

The Ivy Asia restaurant provides patrons with a wide variety of Asian-inspired culinary creations ranging from luxurious sushi rolls to spicy stuffed snacks, fancy beverages, and more. Some dishes that were especially delightful were wagyu beef and shrimp tempura sushi rolls, pork and kimchi dumplings, spinach and mizuna salad, and a hot and sour chicken dish with plums.

If attendance to its culinary offerings serves as any evidence of quality, Flour & Grape opens its doors at 6 pm without accepting previous reservations. We arrived around 6 and were fortunately able to obtain a table, as it filled up within minutes!

This delightful Italian establishment offers a varied selection of small plates, pasta dishes, and desserts. Not only were the portion sizes quite generous, as seen in the photograph, but the pricing was among the most reasonable I`ve come across in London, especially considering the quality of food.

The dishes sampled and enjoyed at Flour & Grape included the three pastas shown above, burrata cheese, and bruschetta. They also offer some tasty wines to savor with the pasta, each with its amusing brief description of how it will taste.

HANNAH is a trendy London restaurant and bar located in Southwest London that has a great brunch menu, filled with some of the classics as well as a unique spin on traditional brunch dishes.

I opted for the Great British Benedict Rösti (pictured), consisting of gruyère and potato rösti, porchetta, a poached egg and hollandaise – a spin on the classic eggs benedict.
