The best time to visit Massachusetts is from March to early May or late June to August. The spring and summer are great times for visiting the Bay State because the warmer weather brings fun events and activities that show off the best of Massachusetts. 

This being said, the best time to visit Massachusetts depends on your travel style and what activities you’re interested in. 

For example, summer is peak season and a fun time to visit for beach days, but things can be expensive. Spring brings baseball season and warmer weather, but fewer crowds than in summertime. Fall in Massachusetts is great for hiking and foliage, and the winter is a good time to visit on a budget. 

When to Visit Massachusetts for Good Weather

Spring

Spring in Massachusetts brings brighter and warmer days. There’s a mix of cold days at the start of the season. Temperatures start as low as 29℉ and rise to a high of 78℉, on average.

During the spring, Massachusetts parks and gardens blossom. The weather becomes warm and spring flowers burst into full bloom.

Hot summers bring warmer ocean water and fun-filled events throughout Massachusetts. High temperatures over 80℉ can make Massachusetts feel like an oven. However, the heat and humidity make summer the perfect time to enjoy beaches and seaside towns. 

Many people head to Cape Cod or higher elevation destinations inland to enjoy a nature refresh this time of year. Just keep in mind that as temperatures creep up, so do prices. Summer is peak tourist season after all. And with school vacations, hotel rates are highest in July and August.
