With so much history and culture, it’s no surprise that there is a lot to do and see, and an abundance (love when I get to sneak in my preferred word!) of coolest lodgings in Seattle to invest a night or four as a home base for exploring the Emerald City.

We`ve personally lodged at the Ace Hotel Seattle, and advocate for it due to the helpful staff, central location, and comfortable and stylish rooms. The CitizenM Seattle: A Modern Hotel at a Great Value (Where We’ve Stayed)

We are extremely fond of CitizenM Hotels in general. And the CitizenM Seattle meets the same high standards. We resided there on a recent short vacation within Seattle, and completely enjoyed it.

What CitizenM – a Dutch hotel brand operating globally – offers is a compact yet complete assortment of necessities without nonessentials, providing all one requires.

Unlike other hotels, where you’ll have a choice between “basic” to “super suite,” all rooms are CitizenM are identical. They all are relatively compact, and have one king-sized bed. And they don’t have unnecessary amenities like bathrobes and soaking tubs that you’re commonly paying a premium for.

A restaurant with a French and international menu, an atrium bar serving good cocktails and light snacks, 24-hour room service with a limited menu, and a good breakfast buffet (6-11am)

Instead, you’ll receive a moderately sized area with an exceptionally large king bed and contemporary features like illumination and temperature controlled by an in-room tablet, USB charging, and blackout drapes and soundproof windows.

One important thing to know is that if you’re a family with young kids who want to all stay in the same room (with two queen beds, for example), you won’t be able to do that here. It’s really more geared towards traveling couples and friends, or solo travelers.

And spaces are definitely compact. There’s not much area to do anything other than sleep or lounge, which isn’t really an issue if you’re planning on being out and about for most of the day anyway. The lack of space in the lodging itself is counterbalanced by the fact that they have all sorts of great common areas on their ground floor “living room” – couches, desks, conference rooms, and a bar.

The hotel was also conveniently located in the bustling South Lake Union neighborhood, well-connected to places like Capitol Hill,Pike Place Market, the Space Needle, and Seattle Center that we walked to.

Given their company policies, it provides excellent value for visitors to Seattle. This makes for a suitable choice for those unconcerned with additional amenities – plenty to explore off the property.

The Ace Hotel Seattle: A Stylish Mid-Range Option in a Great Location

Let`s commence this listing with one of my preferred hotel chains – Ace. When I contemplate cool hotels in other cities like New York City and Portland, the Ace Hotel generally comes to the forefront.

Their hotels around the country are often the best combination of style and value that I’ve found, and the same is true of the Ace Hotel Seattle.

We resided here for a few nights a couple years ago when attending a work conference in Seattle, and it’s a suitable option for travelers wanting a comfortable stay in a central location within walking distance of many bars, restaurants, and coffee shops.

The first location of the Ace Hotel brand is situated in the trendy waterfront neighborhood of Belltown, famous for its hip restaurants, boutiques, and vibrant nightlife.”

This historic red-brick building emanates back-to-basics sophistication with white walls, elevated ceilings, repurposed furniture and striking artwork. You’ll discover record players, organic cotton sheets, platform beds and terrific minibars. The deluxe bedrooms have private washrooms, and the assistance here is top notch.

You will have the option to grab a morning meal in the shared kitchen area to start your day appropriately, such as Stumptown Coffee, and numerous dining establishments and bars directly outside the entryways will provide various substantial choices. The Space Needle and the Olympic Sculpture Park are merely a casual stroll away, and the Seattle waterfront is a couple of blocks farther down the slope.

The blend of style and value at the Ace is unrivaled.

The State Hotel: Super Close to Pike Place Market (+ Our Next Stay in Seattle)

The State Hotel, located literally steps from Pike Place Market, is one of the best spots in Seattle offering a superb location, stylishly decorated rooms and common areas, and modern comforts such as walk-in showers and plush bathrobes.

We finally made it to the CitizenM on our last trip, and this is probably the hotel we`ll stay at next time we want lodging in the city itself (normally we reside with Matt`s family, who still live in the Seattle region).

Situated in a fine turn-of-the-century building at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and Pike Street right in the heart of Belltown, this property has 91 classically styled guest rooms, most offering excellent panoramas of the city or Elliott Bay, with upgraded accommodations also enjoying private rooftop patios. Large windows allow natural light to fill the rooms abundantly.

The setting implies that you’ll be able to explore primarily by foot whilst in town – Pike Place, the Space Needle, and Cap Hill are all within walking distance from your door.

The central feature of the lobby is a display of illuminated door knobs (it’s art!) along with low couches, bookshelves and oriental carpets. The walls of the public areas are covered in striking wallpapers by Kate Blairstone and contrast with the soothing whiteness of the guest rooms.

An establishment, named after an individual involved in a previous venture located there, offers modern American cuisine throughout the day. This is in close proximity to a site.

Hotel Ändra: Scandinavian-Chic in Belltown

Entering the lobby is similar to visiting a wealthy friend’s abode, stylish seating and an open fire providing a soothing contrast to the urban hustle outside. However, when examining the prices, one will probably be surprised they aren’t higher. They have accommodations of all shapes and sizes to fit your budget – from standard hotel rooms outfitted with their signature Scandinavian décor, to lavish suites

To prevent disappointment, my advice would be to arrange your visit in advance to ensure enjoying the exquisite food and sampling the wide wine selection.

The location has good exercise facilities, free automobile parking and is pet-friendly too!

The Sound Hotel Seattle: Stylish and Central

Located at 4th and Lenora right in the middle of Belltown, the position of this contemporary small accommodation is excellent.

It is part of the Hilton chain`s urban, modern, stylish hotel line called Tapestry Collection, which means you can walk to Pike Place Market (~6 blocks), the Space Needle and Seattle Center (~10 blocks), and South Lake Union (also ~10 blocks, give or take a few).

I first noticed the green building with orange hints on our last trip to downtown Seattle because it stands out unlike the far less colorful buildings nearby.

Room options involve the King Studio, which supplies a bit more space to spread out (562 square feet!), normal King Rooms (which are still quite roomy with 445 square feet) or a King Room with a Space Needle view, and rooms with two queen beds.

Rooms are quite bright thanks to the huge windows, and have Keurig coffee makers and large TVs. Let’s be honest though, you’re going to want to get out and explore the best coffee shops in Seattle, since the city is renowned for its amazing coffee scene.

The Moxy Seattle Downtown: Affordable Style in South Lake Union

Found in South Lake Union, one of the growing parts of the city that has undergone an incredible transformation over the last decade, is the Moxy Seattle Downtown. It’s extremely near Lake Union Park and its Museum of History and Industry ( MOHAI).

The relaxed Moxy offers simple, thoughtfully designed accommodations in the heart of Seattle. The guest rooms, decorated in pastel grays, have some nice features like motion-activated LED lights, walk-in rain showers (wow), 42-inch flat-screen TVs and free, fast WiFi. The on-site bar, Bar Moxy, is known for its imaginative cocktails and hot food options.

The Inn at the Market: A Nice Hotel Steps from Pike Place Market

If State Hotel was convenient for visiting the renowned Pike Place Market, then Inn at the Market truly lives up to its name – it`s located right in the market!

From its rooftop terrace, you can gaze over the market’s neon sign, past the Great Wheel, and on over Puget Sound. It is a five-minute walk from the Seattle Art Museum and only a mile from the Space Needle.

The accommodations are spacious and luxurious with muted colors highlighted by bright orange and mustard hues. Most rooms provide spectacular views through floor-to-ceiling windows, and all include ample private bath facilities.

The Gaslight Inn

Maury Island Marine Park: Situated on the southeastern side of the island, this location makes for a wonderful spot to walk down to the beach where you`ll find breathtaking scenery of Mount Rainier spanning across Puget Sound on clear days. Parking is available here, and a short two mile trail leads down to the coastline.

Capitol Hill is renowned as the birthplace of grunge-rock, has a sizable LGBT community, and is the Seattle center for artists and free-thinkers, so it is a great place to be. In fact, it tops my list of the best areas to stay in Seattle, and is by far my favorite neighborhood in the city.

The Arctic Club

Just steps from Pioneer Square, Seattle’s oldest district, the beautifully designed Arctic Club,is renowned for its customized features like the terra cotta walrus heads adorning the third level. Every detail is specially made—even the wallpaper! This is the type of hotel where you`ll want to dress up for dinner.

Wealthy individuals returning from the Yukon gold rush of the 1890s frequented The Arctic Club. As such, its decor pays homage to the gold rush era through materials like Alaskan marble and naming the dining room the “Northern Lights Dome Room.”

Speaking of which, The Juno restaurant located at The Arctic Club offers locally grown seasonal dishes with a Pacific Northwest twist served in an upscale environment, while the Polar Bar is an example of elegance that you thought vanished. Places like Pioneer Square and Seattle Art Museum are just a brief stroll away.

The Graduate Hotel Seattle

The Graduate Hotel is an incredible Art Deco building that does not shy from its origins. The guest rooms are a homage to that period, stylish, refined and intelligent. The building is 16 floors so you can anticipate the perspective from the rooftop is spectacular!

It’s in the University District, so it’s the best hotel in Seattle for visiting the University of Washington.

Poindexter, a café by day and a wine bar at night, makes a great place to sit and relax. On the rooftop, you’ll find the aptly named Mountaineering Club, boasting a menu that highlights regional produce and is heavy on the seafood. All withthat view.

The Shaffer Baillie Mansion

Would you be interested in residing within a Tudor Revival mansion on Capitol Hill? If so, you should undoubtedly inspect the Shaffer Baillie Mansionwithout delay. The eight guest rooms take their lead from the architecture, and you will find substantial oak and mahogany beds (even a couple of four posters!), oriental rugs, antique and reproduction furnishings and period details.

The entry hall, lounge and restaurant all have paneling, and the furnishings are upholstered in leather or rich velvet. The library is a beautiful place to sit back and relax, read a book, or carry on a discussion.
