In the heart of Fira lies Ouzeri, beside the Fabrica shopping center, welcoming guests since 2003. Ouzeris hold significance in Greek culture as taverns that traditionally serve ouzo liquor and small shared plates known as mezes. There is a casual environment with Aegean Sea views amid outdoor seating with plexiglass-enclosed indoor spaces. Despite its flashy sign, the moderately priced cuisine excels. Head chef and owner Georgios Stakias combines classical French training from Paris` Cordon Bleu School with Greek traditions and signature flavors. The menu offers seafood, meat, pasta and vegetarian fare with regional accents and modern techniques. Inform staff about allergies to customize options. Friendly server George enthusiastically recommends dishes, knowing the menu well since 2011. Recommended are: Dakos Salad atop barley rusk with feta, tomatoes and capers drizzled in olive oil; Sautรฉed Greek Endives on pita with tomatoes, feta and garlic also topped with olive oil; Baked White Eggplant (seasonal specialty) with tomatoes, kasseri cheese and roasted walnuts; fresh Mussels in white wine-garlic sauce; Baked Feta rolled in pistachios with a beet marmalade; and chocolate lava cake paired with homemade ice cream and cinnamon. Dinner reservations advised; lunch typically accepts walk-ins
