The restaurant Argo is situated along the main pedestrian path in Fira and offers gorgeous ocean and sunset views from its upstairs dining area overlooking the caldera. There are two other establishments across the road that have superior caldera perspectives but Argo`s cuisine is superior. The eatery draws its name from among the most well-known myths in Greek folklore, Jason and the Argonauts, who sailed the seas aboard the vessel, Argo, in search of the prized Golden Fleece. A laid-back yet trendy environment decorated with nautical elements paying tribute to the famous mythical narrative it bears the name of. Argo serves traditional Greek and Santorinian dishes with a modern twist using fresh locally sourced ingredients, including freshly caught fish. Meat, seafood, pasta, and vegetarian options are available. Some delicious items on the menu include: Argo`s signature dish, shrimp saganaki featuring graviera cheese from Naxos sautΓ©ed together; fava purΓ©e, a Santorinian specialty, topped with char-grilled octopus and a moderately spicy sauce and the Santorini salad with Santorinian cherry tomatoes, arugula, spring onions, sun-dried tomatoes, raisins, pine nuts, and parmigiano cheese dressed with a honey vinaigrette, a nice alternative to the standard Greek salad.
