Parque de Bombas is a historical landmark of Puerto Rico and one of Ponceβs main attractions. This stunning building was the first fire station on the island, founded in 1883, the station is now a symbol of Ponceβs city and is part of Puerto Ricoβs National Register of Historic Places.

See the View from Cruceta del Vigia

If you love looking at things from a different perspective, then you see the view from La Cruceta del Vigia. Located on a hill overlooking the Caribbean Sea, this cross was a watch-out point to look at the boats that entered the bay. Visitors can reach the bridge on top through the elevator or stairs.

Enter a Real Castle

One of its kind in the country, Castillo Serralles was once the home of the SerrallΓ©s family, creators of the famous Don Q. Visitors now can take a tour through this beautiful 1930s Spanish Revival-style structure to learn more about the history of Juan Eugenio SerrallΓ©s, the founder of SerrallΓ©s Distillery, and about the sugar cane and the rum industry of Puerto Rico.
Look for Street Art
Besides its historic landmarks, Ponce sports an amazing display of urban street art you shouldnβt miss during your visit. The countless murals around the city come from the festival Ponce Es Ley, which started in 2017, following the same concept as San Juan is Ley. During this festival, muralists from around the world use buildings around the city center as their canvas.

Few people know that Tainos lived in Puerto Rico before the Spaniards arrived on the island. One of the places where you can learn about them and see the artifacts they left behind is at the Tibes Indigenous Ceremonial Center, where you get to see burial sites and ruins from the Taino. The place also sports a museum and a shop.
Walk Plaza Las Delicias

Eat Local Food in La Guancha

La Guancha is one of Puerto Ricoβs most popular spots. Although the beachfront boardwalk was partially destroyed after Hurricane Maria in 2017, the food kiosks in La Guancha still operate today and itβs a great place to enjoy local food while feeling the ocean breeze.

Even if you visit Ponce for its history, youβll be happy to discover you can also enjoy a beach day in the city. Ponce sports a main public beach known as Balneario El Tuque. La Guancha is also a place where you can enjoy the sun and dip your feet in the water, and Playa Pelicano in Caja de Muertos is the top beach in Ponce.

The Catedral Nuestra SeΓ±ora de Guadalupe, or the Ponce Cathedral, dates back to 1670 and is one of the best stops to do in the city center. Go on a Day Trip to Guanica
Ponceβs location is ideal to visit many of the attractions on the south coast on a day trip. If youβre staying in the south city, hop on your rental car and drive to Guanica, where youβll find a dry forest, a sunflower field, breathtaking beaches, and even a boathouse on a hill.

Climb Over the Letters of Ponce

If you take Expreso Luis A Ferre to get to Ponce, youβll notice giant letters with the name of Ponce at the entrance of the city. Make a stop and walk to those letters to take a picture of them. This is something even locals do all the time when they visit the city.

Party at the Carnival
Ponce is home to Puerto Ricoβs oldest carnival, known as Ponce Carnival. The Carnival that dates back to the 1700s, takes place a week before Ash Wednesday. The one-week-long festivity is full of Puerto Rico music, local artists, food, parades and vejigantes, and costumes with colorful masks representing the evil that fights King Momo, representing the good.

Isla Cardona has clear waters that are great for a beach day with your family. The island also houses a neoclassic-style lighthouse from 1889 with an automated lantern that is still operating.
Hop Between Restaurants
Ponceβs cuisine is without a doubt some of the best in Puerto Rico. Ponce restaurants include fine-dining restaurants like Lola as well as small on-the-patio restaurants like Chefβs Creations.Β
Whether youβre craving pizza, Puerto Rican food, or burgers, Ponce has something to offer.
Foodies visiting the city shouldnβt miss the stuffed mofongo in La Boya or a coffee at CafΓ© Lucero.
Enjoy the Nightlife
Ponce is one of the best places to enjoy Puerto Ricoβs nightlife. The city hosts multiple bars, pubs, and casinos where night owls can party after dark.

Every last Friday of the month experience Noches en la BahΓa, a festival with live entertainment, food kiosks, and artisans hosted at Placita 65 de InfanterΓa. To show off your salsa moves, head over to Spot 2.0 in Isabel MuΓ±oz Street.
The city is also known for its casinos such as Casino de la Plaza, the Tropical Casino, Bonvoyage Casino, and Hilton Ponce Golf & Casino Resort.
Hike at Punta Cucharas Nature Reserve

The Punta Cucharas Nature Reserve is hidden away on Ponceβs coast. The reserve has multiple ecosystems including mangroves, dunes, and a saline lagoon.Β
Outdoor enthusiasts can do birdwatching and easily spot any of the 56 species that inhabit the reserve. Fishing, diving, hiking, and kayaking are also popular activities on the reserve.
Visit during the golden hour to catch mesmerizing sunset photos. Keep in mind there arenβt any facilities in the area.
