Hawaii Family Hotels – Tips & Advice

  • Honolulu Best Hotel for Families: Moana Surfrider Hotel
  • Oahu Best Family-Friendly Hotel: Turtle Bay Resort
  • Best Maui hotel for families: Grand Wailea Resort
  • Big Island Best Hotel for Families: Hilton Waikoloa Village
  • Best Hotel for Families in Kauai: The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa provides an excellent accommodation for families.
  • Maui, one of the most visited Hawaiian islands, offers white sand beaches, natural wonders, and great culinary experiences for families. However, its popularity means attractions will have large crowds. It is recommended to book tours, especially for large groups, ahead of time here to avoid issues
  • Oahu offers excellent access to both bigger city conveniences like Honolulu (many dining and cultural options for pickier eaters along with historical attractions) and to tranquil beach towns to the north.
  • The Big Island is excellent for adventurous families, with its active volcano, opportunities for manta ray snorkeling, lava rock deserts, and huge rainforest. Its large size, though, means lots of time spent driving, and the volcanic fumes are not healthy for infants or pregnant women.
  • Kauai is incredible for a getaway with fewer crowds and gorgeous rainforests and waterfalls. On this island, you’re truly removing yourself from everyday life: expect fewer amenities, frequent precipitation, and inconsistent cell service over much of the island.
  • Plan for some indoor activities in case of rain, as hurricane season is from June through November, and much of the islands have rainforest coverage. Museums, aquariums, cultural centers, and historical sites are excellent options.
  • Travelers should plan to bring pants, sweaters, and lightweight jackets in case exploring away from the shoreline. Many of Hawaii`s attractions, such as Kilauea Volcano or the Haleakala Crater, are situated at high elevations around twenty degrees cooler than surrounding locales.
