Budget Hotel

Hacienda El Santuario San Miguel de Allende (Historic Hotel)

A stunning historic hotel encapsulating the heart of San Miguel.

๐Ÿ‘‡ View Prices, Reviews, and Availability

If I could only pick one hotel in San Miguel de Allende to recommend without knowing anything more about your trip, Iโ€™d suggest the Hacienda El Santuario San Miguel de Allende.

Hacienda El Santuario San Miguel de Allende is a luxurious hotel located in a 450-year-old convent, and is absolutely dripping in history and style from every single angle.ย

The hotel feels like a sprawling Spanish hacienda, with the 30 beautiful suites scattered across its grounds. Each of the rooms is elegantly furnished with period-appropriate pieces and classic Mexican art. Many of the suites are so large that they feel more like mini-apartments than hotel rooms.

We especially love the fantastic rooftop, where you can soak in views of the townโ€™s iconic pink Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel. Overall, this is a great place to stay in San Miguel de Allende if you can afford it.ย

Nena Hotel Boutique (Stylish Boutique with Pool)

A fantastic luxury boutique with a pool and one of San Miguelโ€™s best rooftops.

๐Ÿ‘‡ View Prices, Reviews, and Availability

If youโ€™re looking for an intimate luxury boutique that feels like staying in an art gallery, check out the incredibly well-cared-for Hotel Nena.

Set in a former private estate, every detailed of this stylish boutique is managed to absolute perfection. Youโ€™ll find an outdoor swimming pool, large spacious rooms, and one of the best rooftops in San Miguel de Allende (which is worth a visit in the evening even if youโ€™re staying in a different hotel).ย

Unsurprisingly, guest reviews for Hotel Nena are nearly perfect across the board. Given that and the perfect location right in the town center, itโ€™s clearly one of the best San Miguel de Allende hotels out there, and even arguably the single best. The one trick is that, with only 5 rooms, youโ€™ll want to be sure to reserve well in advance.

Clandestino Hotel Recreo (4 Star Hotel with Rooftop)

History and modernity elegantly collide in this stylish but comfortable historic hotel.

๐Ÿ‘‡ View Prices, Reviews, and Availability

Iโ€™m personally a big fan of modern boutique hotels, and Clandestinoโ€™s hotel on Recreo street is one of my favorites. Located in a refurbished antique house, the guest rooms at Clandestino are just my style: clean, comfortable, and stylish.

Several of the larger suites offer large in-room bathtubs. Of course, youโ€™ll find all the amenities youโ€™d expect from luxury hotels in San Miguel de Allende: free wifi, flatscreen TVs, bathrobes, Nespresso coffee machines, and room service.ย

All of this is set in a perfect location walking distance to the city center, but in a quiet courtyard set back from the street. As an extra bonus, Clandestino sports a small but fantastic rooftop where you can grab a drink and enjoy panoramic views of San Miguel de Allende.ย

Clandestino Hotel Pila Seca (Modern Hotel)

Clandestinoโ€™s more modern outpost offers comfort, cleanliness, and a central location.

a woman standing next to a bed in a hotel room

๐Ÿ‘‡ View Prices, Reviews, and Availability

Clandestino actually has two similarly-named hotels, located just a few blocks from each other. The interior stylings of the two hotels are nearly identical: in this one, youโ€™ll also find in-suite bathtubs and the same comfortable amenities that characterize the hotelโ€™s location on Recreo street.

But the main difference is that Clandestinoโ€™s Pila Seca location is set in a newer building and, while it lacks a rooftop, it offers an excellent restaurant.ย

With average nightly prices starting at $165 USD, Clandestino is an excellent mid-range boutique hotel. The location just two blocks from the main square is perfect too. Some of the rooms offer terraces overlooking a central courtyard. And all are perfectly clean and well cared for.

If you like modern clean hotels with a central location, I think Clandestinoโ€™s Pila Seca outpost will suit you well.ย

The Rosewood San Miguel de Allende (Iconic 5 Star Hotel)

Perhaps the most famous hotel in San Miguel de Allende, the rooftop bar is a must-see.

๐Ÿ‘‡ View Prices, Reviews, and Availability

The Rosewoodis the most iconic hotels San Miguel de Allende offers. Iโ€™ve never had the pleasure of staying in this San Miguel de Allende hotel myself, but Iโ€™ve visited dozens of times to enjoy sunset drinks from the hotelโ€™s spectacular Luna rooftop tapas bar (which even made my list of the best stuff to do in San Miguel).ย

One of the larger resort-style hotels in San Miguel de Allende, The Rosewood is a popular choice for weddings, events, and other large groups. The sprawling grounds of the 16th-century building offer six restaurants and bars, a spa offering traditional treatments, a serene inner courtyard, and even an art gallery in the hotelโ€™s basement.ย

The Rosewood”s resort offers three pools, including the only lap pool in town, all surrounded by comfortable cabanas perfect for relaxing. Youโ€™ll also find a state of the art fitness center and a tour desk.

Some of the suites at The Rosewood even offer a private terrace with a jacuzzi. With average nightly rates starting at around $500, The Rosewood is definitely one of the best luxury hotels in San Miguel de Allende!ย

Hotel Mansion (Luxury Hotel with Rooftop Jacuzzi)

An adults-only hotel perfect for couples or honeymooners, with the best views in town.

a woman dressed in a costume standing on a sidewalk

๐Ÿ‘‡ View Prices, Reviews, and Availability

If you donโ€™t mind the location up the side of the hill, .

The star attraction at this San Miguel de Allende hotel is definitely the rooftop, where you can soak in a jacuzzi while enjoying panoramic views of the town.ย

The rooms at this 4 star hotel are stylish and spacious, each furnished with a large and comfortable bed. I also really like that, even though itโ€™s located in a historic building, the bathrooms have been refurbished to give you a touch of modern luxury.ย

Hotel Mansion is an adults-only hotel, so itโ€™s the perfect choice for couples or honeymooners looking to enjoy a blissful escape in San Miguel de Allende. With rooms starting from $120 per night, breakfast included, itโ€™s also one of the more surprisingly affordable luxury hotels in San Miguel de Allende.

If youโ€™re looking for an affordable mid-range hotel in San Miguel de Allende, Iโ€™d suggest Casa Aliz. Each of the guest suites features a different color scheme, but all are furnished with comfortable beds and nice additional amenities like jacuzzi tubs.

Youโ€™ll find an attractive rooftop terrace with a small bar, just perfect for lounging and enjoying the sunset after a long day exploring the many things to do in San Miguel de Allende. The staff is very attentive. Plus, the rooms are set back from the street, meaning this is a quiet place to stay and get some rest in San Miguel de Allende.

With the average price starting below $100, Casa Aliz is the perfect San Miguel de Allende hotel for budget conscious travelers who enjoy a taste of luxury.ย

Hotel MX San Miguel de Allende (Brand New Hotel with Rooftop Pool)

A brand new and extremely comfortable hotel at a reasonable price.

a woman standing on a ledge holding a skateboard

๐Ÿ‘‡ View Prices, Reviews, and Availability

On our most recent visit to San Miguel de Allende, Clara and I opted to check out the brand new Hotel MX San Miguel de Allende. And, when I say this hotel is brand new, I really mean it: several of the Hotel MX”s facilities – such as the restaurant, the fitness center, and the tennis courts – were still under construction during the time of our visit.

As someone who really enjoys modern and clean hotels, I think the Hotel MX delivers. The beds were comfortable, the wifi fast, and the bathroom water pressure was just perfect. The hotel offers a nice rooftop pool and deck, loads of free parking, and even a rooftop running track.ย

The one downside to picking this San Miguel de Allende hotel is that it does not have a central location. Youโ€™ll either need a rental car or be willing to contend with ordering Ubers for the 10 minute ride to the town center.

Considering this is one of the nicer budget hotels in San Miguel de Allende weโ€™ve found, I think that trade-off was worth it, but itโ€™s definitely something to consider.ย
