Accessing Ammoudi Bay

There are two good alternatives to reach the bay. A steep yet walkable staircase just below the castle in Oia leads down to the bay if you`re up for it. Each step is broad, and the surfaces sometimes uneven. If you’re heading out to a romantic evening meal in fancy shoes or spending the day in flip flops, this walk probably isn’t suitable. Like the trail between Fira and Oia, appropriate shoes will help.

Another means of travel between Oia and Amoudi is to take a taxi, which can be arranged through your hotel or restaurant for the return trip. The fixed price for taxi transit between the two locations is 10€. An alternative is to walk in one direction and travel by vehicle in the other. Servers at the Ammoudi Bay restaurant are pleased to contact taxis for diners after meals.

There is a small parking area near Ammoudi Bay, but the road down is narrow and the lot is often full with vehicles and difficult to access. Because of this, even if you have a rental car, we advise walking or taking a taxi to Ammoudi Bay instead of driving yourself.
