Yanni Gallery in Athens
A family-operated boutique gallery showcases unique Greek sculptures, paintings, prints and jewelry by artist Yanni Souvatzoglou, an abstract impressionist. Since 1980, Yanni has crafted artworks taking inspiration from traditional Cycladic sculpture using elongated human figures to generate modern anthropocentric designs posing philosophical inquiries while simultaneously providing answers. If traveling on the 28km stretch of Leoforo Marathonas Avenue from Athens to Rafina port town, Yanni`s artwork can be viewed there such as a large running sculpture dedicated to the town of Marathon.
An inspiring and experimental artist working with an assortment of mediums ranging from ceramics to metals, Yanni Souvatzoglou has also derived inspiration from Greek mythology and how these iconic narratives correspond to modern society. Each creative work he`s produced tells a story, and he`s more than willing to sit and converse about his concepts and ideas. Yanni`s gallery functions not solely as a shop and exhibition space, but also as a meeting spot within the Athens cultural and philosophical scene with his artwork providing βfood for thoughtβ and discussion.
The gallery provides packaging and shipping after purchase, which includes international destinations. Open Monday to Saturday from 12pm to 6pm; closed on Sundays. Centrally located in Plaka, next to Evgenia Restaurant and Electra Palace Hotel. The closest metro station to the gallery is Syntagma, about a five minute walk away.
