Brew a strong morning beverage and enter the state park before sunrise to experience how it received its name. Pull over on the Scenic Byway and witness the desert sunrise as it illuminates the sandstone rocks.

Ryan Mountain is my preferred trail in Joshua Tree. This 2.9-mile hike climbs over 1,000 feet to one of the highest points in the park, providing sweeping views of the Mojave Desert. Winter is the ideal time to tackle the J-Tree trails, as extreme summer temperatures from June to September can render hiking nearly impossible.

I highly recommend visitors spend a night in this top ranked New Mexico national park. This provides an opportunity to explore more than one hiking trail, such as the backcountry Pueblo Alto route. Anza Borrego Desert State Park

For those who opt to drive independently, we suggest renting a vehicle either at the airport upon arrival, or in Fira. The trail from the ferry port is steep and slim, with numerous tricky twists and turns, massive trucks, and buses. Leave that navigation to the locals. We strongly advocate booking a car ahead of time, particularly if you require an automatic transmission. There is free parking out front of the hotel (often at full ability), near the Imerovigli Basketball Court, and near Sunbird Rent-A-Car. Imerovigli has the most challenging-to-locate parking in Santorini, so you may must circle around a couple times to find a space.
Anza Borrego Desert State Park is found in Southern California, under a two hour drive from San Diego. It is renowned for its palm oases and Native American artifacts, but Anza Borrego is also an ideal location for camping due to its remote locale.
March presents an excellent time to visit Anza Borrego because it regularly experiences abundant wildflower super blooms starting the last week of February until the first two weeks of March. Bring your camera and a comfortable camp chair and observe the once-barren desert burst into seasonal reds, yellows, and violets.
Hiking is another of the top things to do in Anza Borrego. Try the Pictograph Trail, a 1.8-mile out-and-back path to historic rock art. Or take the loop trail through Borrego Palm Canyon near the visitor center, which leads hikers to a palm-filled ravine.

While Washington, D.C., may experience chillier temperatures at this time of year, it earned a spot on my March destinations list due to the cherry blossom blooms near the national capital. Bundle up in a heavy coat and venture outside to behold the flowers in bloom.
The trees normally blossom around the final week of March, coinciding with the National Cherry Blossom Festival. This commemoration began in 1912 and spans four weeks from late March to early April. A parade through the streets, kite display, and citywide picnic await at this festive occasion.
While attending the festival in town, I suggest exploring some of the nation`s prized museums and monuments located in Washington D.C.. Top attractions for initial visitors include the Lincoln Memorial, collections housed at the Smithsonian, the National Mall, and the U.S. Capitol.
