Cavo Tagoo – Location

  • Area: Cavo Tagoo sits along the main road near the edge of Mykonos Town in the northern section of the Old Port neighborhood. This tranquil area is about 1 km from the Chora, where most of the island’s bars, restaurants, and clubs can be found. The small Old Port Beach is 800m south, while Agios Stefanos Beach is 2 km north. The New Port/Tourlos Ferry Port is 1.5 km north.
  • How to Get There: Cavo Tagoo is situated just off the main road connecting Mykonos Town to the ferry terminal, making it very convenient to reach by bus, taxi, or driving yourself. It is approximately 2km from the Mykonos ferry port in Tourlos, and 5km from the Mykonos Airport to the hotel.

Visitors arriving by ferry can take the water transport from the New Port in Tourlos to the Old Port, from which it is a 9-minute walk north (700m) to reach the hotel. The transport departs every half hour, with the trip taking about 10 minutes and costing €2.

Taxis are accessible from the arrival point or air terminal, though there are only about 30 taxis assisting the whole isle, so there is often a prolonged wait; schedule a ride through a private vehicle service in advance to stay away from this (I employ and recommend Welcome Pickups). Cabs on Mykonos do not have meters, so be sure to agree on a cost with the driver before setting out. A taxi from the port or airport to the seaside will cost roughly €15-20. Booking through a private vehicle service will cost only a bit more – about $38 (€31), but is worthwhile to avoid the wait and for the benefit of paying ahead.

We would advise not taking the transportation from the airport or harbor. Public coaches stopping at the Old Port rarely operate from the airport location, so arrivals by plane would need to ride the bus from the airport to the Fabrika halt in Mykonos Town, then walk (2km) or reserve a taxi (but you may have to wait) to the lodging. There are no scheduled bus services directly connecting the Fabrika bus terminus to the Old Port bus terminus. Buses from the Airport to Fabrika and from the Ferry Port (New Port/Tourlos) to the Old Port operate several times daily throughout the peak season, but only every few hours in the winter months, if operating at all. The standard bus fare is about €2.

Those who wish to arrange their own transportation can consider renting a vehicle upon arrival at the airport or in Mykonos Town. Advance reservations, especially for automatic vehicles, are advisable. Upon reaching the hotel, Cavo Tagoo provides complimentary valet parking

  • Close to: Dining, nightlife, and the beach at the Old Port. Dining, shopping, and nightlife in the Chora. The Windmills of Kato Mili/Little Venice.

Cavo Tagoo – Local Transport

  • Walking: The hotel is situated at the edge of the Old Port neighborhood of Mykonos Town, within walking distance or a short (free) shuttle ride to 2 beaches (Old Port Beach is a 10-minute walk and Agios Stefanos Beach is a 4-minute drive), the New Port (1.5 km), and the heart of Mykonos Town (1.5 km) for amazing dining, nightlife, and shopping. Little Venice and the Kato Mili Windmills are just a little farther, 20 minutes on foot (2 km). Two excellent sunset viewpoints are also nearby at Boni’s windmill (1.5 km) and at 180° Sunset Bar (1.5km uphill).
  • Transportation: Cavo Tagoo is situated near 2 transportation stops. The closest one is the Old Port transportation station (700m) providing routes to the New Port (Tourlos), Agios Stefanos Beach, Ano Mera village, Panormos Beach, Elia Beach Kalo Livadi Beach, and Kalafati Beach. On the other side of town, approximately a 25-minute walk (2 km) away, is the Fabrika transportation stop featuring routes to the New Port (Tourlos), Airport, and beaches at Ornos, Agios Ioannis, Platis Gialos, Paradise, and Paraga. There is no transportation connecting Fabrika and the station at the Old Port; it takes about 14 minutes (1 km) to walk from one to the other. Costs range from €1.60 to €2.30 based on destination. Transportation can become very crowded particularly during high season when they often reach full capacity unable to accept additional passengers. There are only 26 public buses serving the island. Schedules are revised every couple of weeks, so check the KTEL website for the most updated timetables.
  • Taxi: The closest taxi stand is at Fabrika next to the bus stop, roughly 2 km from the hotel, however there are generally less taxis traveling through this area. The primary taxi stand is near the Old Port, behind the Cosmote building and adjacent to the post office (900m). There is almost always a wait at either taxi stand as there are only 30 taxis serving the entire island. Book ahead to avoid the wait, and have the driver meet you at the hotel instead. There will be a surcharge for advanced reservations (about €5) and for carrying luggage, usually just a couple of euros. A taxi from the port or airport to Cavo Tagoo should be about €15-20.
  • Water Taxi: The Old Port and New Port and several beaches are connected through a boat system. The SeaBus connects the New Port and Old Port. Water taxis also serve the southern beaches, with routes connecting the main beaches at Ornos and Platis Gialos with the more distant beaches at Paraga, Paradise, Super Paradise, Agrari, and Elia. An all-day, all-beach pass costs €20.
  • Motorized vehicles: Scooters serve as the primary mode of transportation for locals, while all-terrain vehicles or ATVs hold great popularity among tourists, but for those unaccustomed to the landscape, these can prove to be highly hazardous to operate. The roads on the Greek island of Mykonos weave in zigzag patterns, travel up and down hills, squeeze through narrow passages, and contain many potholes, sometimes constituting dirt paths, with most regions outside of Mykonos Town lacking street lights. Plus there are aggressively reckless drivers to contend with, some of the world`s worst. Renting a car presents a much safer choice than a scooter or ATV, while likewise granting easy access to remote beaches across the island.
