Milos to Santorini – Ferry Essentials

  • FerryHopper.com is highly recommended for purchasing Milos to Santorini ferry tickets online. Their website also provides useful information on schedules, costs, and timetables.
  • Advanced booking for ferry tickets 2 to 3 months in advance is recommended but usually not required.
  • The majority of tickets (when booked through FerryHopper) do not necessitate collecting a paper ticket before boarding as they are electronic.
  • If an online ticket purchase lacks a barcode, which typically signifies pickup is needed upon arrival in Greece. Most often this entails collecting a real ticket at the ferry port 30 to 45 minutes before departure. Don`t be concerned about retrieval – it`s simple and hassle-free and commonly in close proximity to your ferry.
  • Ferries will depart on time from their initial port of departure in the morning (usually large ports like Piraeus, Heraklion, and Rhodes) but will arrive and depart later from all subsequent ports (e.g. Naxos). Commonly getting later as the day progresses.
  • Most areas in Greece, including Milos and Santorini, experience public transportation worker protests throughout the year. These worker actions can influence all modes of transit, including buses, trains, ferries, flights, and taxis. During protests no buses run, no ferries depart, and only a handful of trains and flights leave on time (or at all); taxis tend to be the mode of transport least disrupted. While protests can occur any time, there is consistently a huge worker action on May 1. Do not book any ferries, flights, or trains for that date.
