The Kensho Ornos provides guests with award-winning, luxury boutique accommodation including two swimming pools, a spacious rooftop hot tub, a premier restaurant and bar, and full-service spa treatments.

Kensho Ornos offers 35 elegant living spaces, most with outdoor hot tubs or plunge pools, and some with large bathtubs. The hotel boasts multiple water features, like an infinity pool with a view of Ornos Beach, a large hot tub on the roof also with sea views, a lap pool in the outdoor gym area, and a cave-like hot tub in the spa. Food is a major highlight here, with its signature dining spot serving innovative Greek and Cretan dishes for dinner, plus a rich all-day Greek menu, along with an inspired cocktail and wine lounge. The spa provides incredible holistic treatments with outstanding facilities. Service and location are exceptionally good.).

Kensho Ornos – Location

To reach the hotel using the public transportation system on the island of Mykonos, travelers can board a bus from the airport or the ferry port located in the town of Tourlos (also known as the “New Port”). These airport and ferry port routes run multiple times daily throughout the busy summer period but infrequently (if at all) during the winter months. Disembark at Fabrika in the city of Mykonos, and catch another bus to Platis Gialos Beach. The initial bus ride from the Airport or New Port to Fabrika normally takes around 10 minutes, and the connecting bus from Fabrika to Platis Gialos Beach usually takes approximately 10 minutes. The complete trip should cost about €4 and take less than one hour total, depending on how long one waits at Fabrika for the Platis Gialos bus. Tickets can be purchased directly on the bus or from an attended kiosk at the terminal using cash only. Buses operate roughly every 30 minutes during peak summer hours and less regularly at night, early in the morning, and in winter. Branco is located within a 10-minute walk from the Platis Gialos bus stop (possibly faster if walking along the beach).

  • How to Get There: The hotel can be found easily by auto, taxi, or coach as it located in Ornos on a side street overlooking the beach. It is around 7 km from the ferry port in Tourlos for Mykonos, and 5km from the airport on Mykonos to the hotel.

To reach the hotel by transportation service, take the Fabrika-bound ride from the Airport or the Tourlos Ferry Port (AKA “The New Port”). These airport and ferry port routes run various times throughout the day for much of the summer but seldom (if at all) in the winter season. Deboard at Fabrika in Mykonos Town, and catch a second bus to Ornos Beach. In Ornos, Kensho Ornos is merely 400m from the stop location. The trip from the Airport or New Port to Fabrika should require about 10 minutes, and the ride from Fabrika to Ornos should necessitate another 10 minutes. The entire journey should take less than an hour, subject to how lengthy you wait at Fabrika for the Ornos transportation, and cost approximately €4 complete. Tickets are purchased on the rides or from an attended booth at the terminal, solely in cash. Transport commonly runs about every 30 minutes during summer peak times and less frequently at night, in early morning, and in winter.

Vehicle rentals can also be secured upon arrival at the harbor or airfield, though transportation options are limited to approximately 30 taxis serving the whole island, resulting in frequently prolonged waits. To sidestep this delay, one could pre-schedule a ride through a personal transportation business ahead of time (I myself utilize and endorse Welcome Pickups). Fares for taxis on Mykonos are not determined mechanically, so be sure to agree on pricing with the driver before departing. A taxi ride from the port or airport to Kensho Ornos would cost in the range of €20 to €25. Arranging transportation through a private service would be only somewhat higher priced – around $38 (or €31), but worthwhile to circumvent waiting and for the ease of prepaying

Kensho Ornos – Local Transport

  • Walking: Kensho Ornos is situated between two beaches, Ornos Beach and Korfos Beach. The hotel overlooks Ornos Beach to the south, about 250m to the shoreline; Korfos Beach lies about 500m to the north. Ornos Beach is one of the best beaches on the island for swimming, lounging, and dining, with several great restaurants and beach clubs along its edge. There is also a Water Taxi here that stops at most of the southern beaches of the island. Korfos Beach is not as beautiful as Ornos, but it is popular for being the only kitesurfing beach on the island. A few restaurants, grocery stores, and a pharmacy are located near Korfos Beach.
  • Public transportation: The closest bus stop to Kensho Ornos is about a 250m away, near the center of Ornos Beach. Buses from here travel to Mykonos Town, where you can disembark at Fabrika and walk to Little Venice, the Old Port, and all of the Chora area. At Fabrika, you can also catch a second bus to the New Port (Tourlos Ferry Port), Airport, and beaches such as Agios Ioannis, Platis Gialos, Paradise, and Paraga. Alternatively, you can disembark at Fabrika and walk to the Old Port to catch a bus to the New Port, Ano Mera village, and beaches like Kalafati, Agios Stefanos, Kalo Livadi, Elia, and Panormos. There is no direct bus connection between Fabrika and the bus station at the Old Port; it takes approximately 15 minutes (1 km) to walk between the two locations. Ticket prices range from €1,60 to €2,30 depending on the destination. Buses can become very crowded, especially during peak season, so much so that they often reach full capacity and are unable to accommodate additional passengers. Only 26 public buses serve the island. Bus schedules change every couple weeks, so check the KTEL website for the most updated timetables.
  • Taxi: There are no designated taxi stands in Ornos. The nearest alternatives are in Mykonos Town at Fabrika and the Old Port, however these are not very practical to reach, plus there is usually a wait at either location as only 30 taxis serve the entire island. Instead, it is recommended to book a taxi in advance to avoid the wait, and have the driver meet you directly at the hotel. There will be a surcharge for advance reservations (approximately €5) and for transporting luggage, usually just a couple of euros. A taxi from the port or airport to Kensho Ornos should cost about €20 to €25.
  • Water Taxi: The New and Old Ports and several beaches are linked via a boat system. The Sea Bus connects the New Port and Old Port with routes running about every 30 minutes, all wheelchair accessible, and all €2 one-way per person, while a Delos round-trip costs €20. Water taxis also connect the southern beaches, with routes connecting the main beaches at Ornos and Platis Gialos with the more remote beaches at Paraga, Paradise, Super Paradise, Agrari, and Elia. An all-day, all-beach pass costs €20.
  • Motorized vehicles: Scooters serve as the primary mode of transportation for locals, while all-terrain vehicles or ATVs hold great popularity among tourists, but for those unaccustomed to the landscape, these can prove to be highly hazardous to operate. The roads on the Greek island of Mykonos weave in zigzag patterns, travel up and down hills, squeeze through narrow passages, and contain many potholes, sometimes constituting dirt paths, with most regions outside of Mykonos Town lacking street lights. Plus there are aggressively reckless drivers to contend with, some of the world`s worst. Renting a car presents a much safer choice than a scooter or ATV, while likewise granting easy access to remote beaches across the island.
