Hotels excavated within cliffs are quite renowned on the Greek island of Santorini, especially in the town of Oia. Many that are considered among the premier accommodations in Santorini have infrastructure constructed partly or entirely within the rockface. Rooms naturally formed inside the hillside are commonly designated as cave suites. While their layout may be sparse, these spaces are near enchanting when artfully designed. An advantage is maintaining a cool interior even on sweltering summer days in July and August. For locals, they provided warmth when outdoors temperatures dropped in winter. While I am not the biggest fan of staying in Santorini Airbnbs, if you need accommodation in a Santorini cave house, Dream Blue(+30 21080 02307) is a privately owned home worth considering. It can sleep up to 6 people, and features a fully equipped kitchen, a hot tub, 2 bathrooms, as well as free wi-fi. The nightly rate is typically 600€ or more depending on the season and number of guests booked, but it offers an amazing property that may be worthwhile for those able to afford it. The owner also rents a smaller home called My Blue with traditional Santorini architecture, able to accommodate up to 4 people at a slightly more affordable price point.
