Hotel Review

Belvedere Hotel – Refined luxury hotel with a pool club, organic spa, exceptional dining and drinks, and a convenient location near the windmills, Old Port, and the island’s best shopping and nightlife.

Belvedere Hotel presents refined accommodations including rooms, suites, and private villas boasting seaside panoramas. The centrally-located swimming complex features an infinity pool overlooking the crystalline coastline, with sunbathing areas and light fare available poolside. Culinary options impress with pan-Nikkei cuisine served at elegant on-site restaurants in addition to multiple lounges each exuding a distinct atmosphere. A holistic spa offers massages and body treatments alongside rotating wellness modalities conducted by visiting practitioners such as yoga, Traditional Chinese Medicine, spiritual healing techniques, and additional healing arts. Most lodgings are tailored for couples yet larger suites and villas suit families or groups seeking spacious accommodations.

Belvedere Hotel – Location

  • Location: Belvedere Hotel is found in Mykonos Town, a brief walk from the nightlife, dining, and shopping that made Mykonos renowned. Nearby landmarks like the Kato Mili windmills, the Old Port, and a small beach can be accessed within 6 to 8 minutes on foot. The bus stop at Fabrika is close, enabling ease of access to the island’s finest beaches, the airport, and the ferry terminal at Tourlos.
  • Method of Arrival: Belvedere Hotel is situated nearby the key road connecting Mykonos Town to the airfield and southern beaches, making it quite effortless to attain by bus, taxi, or driving yourself. It is approximately 5.6 kilometers from the Mykonos ferry port in Tourlos, and 3.7 kilometers from the Mykonos Airport to the lodging.

To reach the hotel by bus, passengers can take the Fabrika-bound ride from the Airport or the Tourlos Ferry Port (also called “The New Port”). These airport and ferry port routes operate numerous times each day all through the summertime yet sporadically (if at all) in winter. Fabrika is the closest bus stop to the hotel and is only a brief walk away. The bus ride from the Airport to Fabrika takes approximately a quarter of an hour, while the bus from the New Port to Fabrika takes a bit under 20 minutes. The walk from Fabrika to Belvedere Hotel is on a mainly level path, easy to navigate with baggage. Both journeys cost around €2. Tickets can be purchased on the bus or from an attended kiosk at the terminal, in cash solely.

Taxis are also available from the port or airport, though there are only about 30 taxis servicing the whole island, so there tends to be a long wait; scheduling a ride through a private car service in advance can help avoid this (I use and recommend Welcome Pickups). Taxis on Mykonos are not metered, so be sure to agree on a price with the driver before setting out. A taxi from the port or airport to Belvedere Hotel will cost roughly €15 to €20. Booking through a private car service will cost only a little more – about $38 (€31), but is worth it to avoid the wait and for the benefit of paying ahead.

Visitors arriving by ferry can also take the water transport from the New Port in Tourlos to the Mykonos Town waterfront, from which it is a 10-minute walk to the hotel. The water transport departs every half hour, with the trip taking about 10 minutes and costing €2.

For those who prefer to drive themselves, we advise independently renting a car either at the airport upon arrival, or in Mykonos Town. We strongly recommend reserving a vehicle ahead of time, particularly if an automatic transmission is needed. Upon arrival at the hotel, Belvedere offers free valet parking (a major perk)

  • Handy to: Dining, nightlife, and shopping in the Chora. The Windmills of Kato Mili/Little Venice. Old Port/Mykonos Town Beach.

Of the detached options, the best choice for couples is the Island Suite with Private Pool. This 1-bedroom suite provides views of the windmills, 24-hour butler service, a king-sized bed, separate living area, expansive terrace with an al fresco dining table, and a private pool. Of the rooms and suites onsite in the main hotel, the Belvedere Mansion is the best. The Mansion is a 1-bedroom unit with a separate living/dining room, 2 sunset view terraces, and a private pool.
  • For Families: The Belvedere Hotel is a family-friendly, pet-friendly hotel open to all ages. Rooms in the primary hotel accommodate 2 or 3 guests only. The Villa has 8 bedrooms for up to 19 guests. Both options include fully-equipped kitchens, living rooms, dining areas, spacious terraces, and private pools or plunge pools.

Belvedere Hotel – Local Transport

  • Walking: The hotel location is in Mykonos Town, just steps away from the heart of the village (Chora) and all of the island’s best dining, nightlife, and shopping. Little Venice and the windmills are a short 6-minute walk away, the Old Port and beach are just a 7-minute walk away, and 2 excellent sunset viewpoints are nearby at Boni’s windmill and 180° Sunset Bar.
  • Public transportation: The Belvedere Hotel is near 2 stops for public buses. The closest stop is at Fabrika, a 3-minute walk (240m) away, which services New Port (Tourlos), the airport, and beaches at Ornos, Agios Ioannis, Platis Gialos, Paradise, and Paraga. There is also a bus stop at the far end of the Old Port (900m) that rides to New Port (Tourlos), Ano Mera village, and beaches at Kalafati, Agios Stefanos, Kalo Livadi, Elia, and Panormos. There is no connecting bus service between Fabrika and the bus terminal at the Old Port; it takes roughly 14 minutes (1 km) to walk between the two locations. Ticket costs vary from €1.60 to €2.30 based on the destination. Buses can become very busy, specifically during peak season, to such an extent that they regularly reach full capacity and can`t take on extra passengers. There are only 26 community buses serving the island. Bus schedules change every couple of weeks, so check the KTEL website for the most current timetables.
  • Taxi: Travelling by taxi from the hotel can involve going to either a closer taxi stand about a 3-minute walk away, or to the primary stand approximately 11-minutes on foot near the Old Port region. The closer location is behind Fabrika next to the bus stop and approximately 250 meters from the hotel, however there tend to be fewer available vehicles there than at the main stand, positioned behind the Cosmote building close to the post office, being roughly 800 meters away. There is usually a delay at both places as only 30 taxis serve the entire island. It is best to arrange a pickup time in advance to bypass the wait, having the driver meet you instead of waiting. Reserving ahead will incur a surcharge of about €5 and luggage may bring an added cost of a couple euros. A taxi from the port or airport to Belvedere Hotel ought to be priced within the range of €15 to €20.
  • Driving in Milan, like any major city with medieval roots, can be complicated due to confusing roads layouts, expensive parking, and vehicle restrictions in popular areas. Fortunately, Milan has Italy`s best public transportation network of subways, buses, and trams to get you almost anywhere desired efficiently. Rideshare services like Uber also operate here along with taxis that usually stop when hailed from the sidewalk. In recent years, bike share programs have sprouted around town as another quick trip option. Often, walking will do just as well though, as Milan`s primary tourist zone is fairly compact – most major attractions are within a 20-minute radius from the Duomo in the city center.

  • Motorized vehicles: Scooters serve as the primary mode of transportation for locals, while all-terrain vehicles or ATVs hold great popularity among tourists, but for those unaccustomed to the landscape, these can prove to be highly hazardous to operate. The roads on the Greek island of Mykonos weave in zigzag patterns, travel up and down hills, squeeze through narrow passages, and contain many potholes, sometimes constituting dirt paths, with most regions outside of Mykonos Town lacking street lights. Plus there are aggressively reckless drivers to contend with, some of the world`s worst. Renting a car presents a much safer choice than a scooter or ATV, while likewise granting easy access to remote beaches across the island.
