My Mykonos Hotel – Location

  • Location: My Mykonos Hotel is situated in the eastern hills with panoramic views overlooking Mykonos Town, less than a 10-minute walk to the nightlife, dining, and shopping attractions that have made Mykonos renowned. Two excellent sunset viewing spots are within a 10-minute walk of the hotel: 180° Sunset Bar (stylish open-air terrace bar with exotic cocktails and chill music) and Boni’s Windmill (16th century windmill, now part of the Agricultural Museum.) The Old Port and a small beach are a 12-minute walk away, while Little Venice, the landmark windmills, and Paraportiani Church can all be reached on foot in under 20 minutes. Traversing into town is all downhill, so high heels or dress shoes are not recommended. Making the return journey back to the hotel can be taxing, especially after an evening out partying. Most visitors walk down and take a taxi back up; there are two taxi stands in Chora located at Fabrika and the Old Port.
  • How to Get There: My Mykonos Hotel is located just off one of the busiest roads on the island connecting Mykonos Town to Ano Mera, the second-largest village on the island, making it very easy to reach by taxi or driving yourself. It is approximately 4 km from the Mykonos ferry port in Tourlos, and 3 km from the Mykonos Airport to the hotel.

We advise against taking the bus from the airport or ferry port to reach the hotel. From the airport, one would need to switch buses in Chora and walk approximately 1 km between the two bus stations (Fabrika and Old Port) along uneven, narrow paths before ultimately walking from the final stop to the hotel on a road lacking sidewalks—not an easy task while transporting luggage. Taking the ferry port as a starting point is slightly more feasible, though it still requires two bus transfers. Ride the Sea Bus or regular bus to the Old Port Bus/Taxi Station. From there, board a bus headed for Ano Mera, Elia, Kalo Livadi, or Kalafati and ask the driver to drop you near the hospital. It`s then only a 6-minute walk to My Mykonos Hotel. The bus or SeaBus to Old Port should take less than 10 minutes while the connecting bus ride from there to the hospital area is approximately 5 minutes. Both trips cost around €2. The walk from the hospital to My Mykonos Hotel follows a mainly level route but lacks a sidewalk. Bus tickets can be purchased directly on board or from an attended kiosk at the terminals using cash only. SeaBus fares are purchased at the booth at the New Port ferry terminal.

Taxis can also be obtained from the port or airport, however there are only approximately 30 taxis serving the entire island, so you may face a significant waiting time; to avoid this, it is advisable to pre-book transportation through a private car service like Welcome Pickups that I have used and can recommend. Taxis on Mykonos do not utilize meters, so be sure to agree on a set price with the driver before departing. A taxi from the port or airport to My Mykonos will typically cost around €15-20. Booking through a private car company will cost a bit more – approximately $38 (€31) – but is worth it to avoid waits and for the convenience of pre-paying
For those who prefer to drive themselves, we recommend renting a vehicle either at the airport on arrival, or in Mykonos Town. We strongly advise reserving a car ahead of time, particularly if an automatic transmission is needed. On arriving at the hotel, My Mykonos offers free parking in their on-site lot

  • Convenient access to: Sunset views available from Boni’s Windmill or 180° Sunset Bar. The Old Port and Beach. Dining, entertainment, and shopping in Chora.

  • For Families: The largest suite property would be a good choice for families. Measuring forty-five square meters, the Two Bedroom Pool Suite is the most spacious accommodation available. It includes two rooms for sleeping, two bathing areas, a living space with a couch that can sleep a fifth guest, and a generous outdoor area. The terrace features a private swimming pool surrounded by a deck with sun loungers, as well as a covered lounge under a pergola for relaxing outdoors.

My Mykonos Hotel – Local Transport

  • Getting Around on Foot: The hotel is perched on a hill less than 1 km from the heart of Mykonos Town. The hill is rather steep and the road straight in front of the hotel stays busy with vehicles. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Most people walk the 10 minutes down to visit the Old Port, Chora, and Little Venice, then take a taxi back up to the accommodation. Two wonderful sunset viewpoints are nearby at 180° Sunset Bar and Boni’s Windmill/Agricultural Museum. The Old Port and its little beach are also within walking distance, about an 11-minute walk away. Most of the village’s bars, clubs, restaurants, and shops in Chora and Little Venice are within 12 to 18 minutes on foot.
  • Public transportation: The nearest bus stop to My Mykonos Hotel is near the medical center on the road connecting Mykonos Town and Ano Mera, roughly a 6-minute walk away. Buses here travel west to the Old Port in Mykonos Town and east to Ano Mera village and the beaches of Elia, Kalo Livadi, and Kalafati. Riders may transfer from the Old Port bus stop to another bus to reach the New Port/Tourlos and the beaches of Agios Stefanos, Panormos, Ornos, Agios Ioannis, and Platis Gialos. There is a second bus terminal in Mykonos Town at Fabrika with routes to the airport, and beaches at Ornos, Agios Ioannis, Platis Gialos, Paradise, and Paraga. There is no direct bus connecting the two stations; it’s roughly a 14-minute walk from the Old Port bus station to the Fabrika terminal. From the hotel, it’s a 17-minute walk to Fabrika. Bus tickets cost from €1.60 to €2.30, depending on the destination. Buses can become very crowded, especially during high season, so much so that they often reach full capacity and cannot accept more passengers. There are only 26 public buses serving the island. Bus schedules change every couple weeks, so check the KTEL website for the latest timetables.
  • Taxi: The closest place to find a taxi is at the Old Port behind the Cosmote building and next to the post office, a 12-minute walk from the hotel. This is the main location on the island for taxis and will be the most reliable spot to get a taxi. There is another taxi stand in Little Venice near the windmills, which will be the closest place to catch a taxi after evening meals or drinks at bars. There are typically only 30 taxis serving the whole island, resulting in often lengthy waits at either taxi stand. Booking ahead helps avoid waiting. There is extra fees for reservations (around €5) and transporting baggage, generally just a couple of Euros. A taxi from the port or airport to My Mykonos Hotel should cost about €15-20.
  • Water Transportation: The New and Old Ports along with several beaches are connected through a boat system. The SeaBus connects the New Port and Old Port with routes running approximately every 30 minutes, all wheelchair accessible, and all €2 one-way per person, while a Delos round-trip costs €20. Water taxis connect the southern beaches, with routes between the main beaches at Ornos and Platis Gialos heading east to the more remote beaches at Paraga, Paradise, Super Paradise,Agrari, and Elia. An all-day, all-beach pass costs €20.
  • Motorized vehicles: Scooters serve as the primary mode of transportation for locals, while all-terrain vehicles or ATVs hold great popularity among tourists, but for those unaccustomed to the landscape, these can prove to be highly hazardous to operate. The roads on the Greek island of Mykonos weave in zigzag patterns, travel up and down hills, squeeze through narrow passages, and contain many potholes, sometimes constituting dirt paths, with most regions outside of Mykonos Town lacking street lights. Plus there are aggressively reckless drivers to contend with, some of the world`s worst. Renting a car presents a much safer choice than a scooter or ATV, while likewise granting easy access to remote beaches across the island.
