Visitors experience an authentic and traditional wine tasting run by a family business established in the 1950s at Antonis Arvanitis and his wife Rasita`s winery. They are passionate about traditional winemaking methods and enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge with guests. Free tours and tastings are provided daily throughout the year, with a suggested donation. As the couple`s English is limited, reservations through email or phone are advised for wine tours but drop-ins are always welcomed and accommodated. Tastings may feature Roze, Brousko, Mezzo, and Vinsanto wines along with Nychteri, a traditional Santorinian wine created from overripe grapes aged in old Russian or French barrels. In addition to wines, various homemade items produced by the family are sold such as olive oil, vinegar, sun-dried tomatoes, jams, Greek fava bean dip, and lemonsanto liquor made entirely from Santorinian lemons. Situated underneath a family-operated bakery on the primary road passing through Megalochori, Canava Arvanitis is easily accessible by bus on the Perissa and Akrotiri routes.
